Fender fresh air vent

I dont think you interpretted the "test" results adequately. There is indeed a venturi effect going on, showing there was not the same airstream next to the fender as several inches off. Its not theoretical its just how it works. You will notice the ones taped to the fender dont fly back hortizontal and flounder about a lot. The ones out 6 and 12" hold steady straight back.

if there was indeed a venturi effect, the yarn would have been displaying the same effect on the fender as the ones spaced away. If the yarn is 'floundering' then the air passing the yarn (vent) is not being accelerated enough to pull it away from the vent into the airstream.

The venturi affect is that the surface of the fender is a low pressure area surrounded by a high speed airstream, so I dont understand how that doesnt meet the criteria. Its working as expected. The ones in the airstream are following the stream straight back. The ones on the fender are being thrown and pulled about by the bit of air and vacuum. IF there was laminar flow and pressure onto the fender then the yarn would be stuck to the fender and pointing straight back, but its not, its waiving around away from the fender surface.

We would also need to know the speed at which the truck was traveling. And any natural wind could hurt or help the situation.

I did mine without doing any research
Redneck Engineering 101 - dremel and $10 ricer fake vent (now functional)
There was a rust spot there so I figured it was easier to "git-r-done"
