With the amount of money I have spent fixing my 1993 up could have made a lot of new truck payments. After awhile I would run out of stuff to replace. But about then it got totaled.

It still doesn't have the power to tow or fuel economy towing like the new ones.

And when it gets totaled the cash and time spent on repairs is gone.

So I disagree with and old truck always being cheaper than a new one. Reliability due to age related failures give a new truck an advantage.

At least the insurance and tags are cheaper. Tags alone per year, new trucks, could buy you an ATT!

Don't forget the excise tax.. on a new truck it would be like adding over another payment... Screw that... Unless you need to do beyond what the 6.5 is capable of, the 6.5 will get you where you need to go just as well as a DMAX for 1/10th the price.

You may not look as 'cool' though. I guess that's important to alot of people. :)

Damn sure you have a few screws and other parts loose at 230K! ):h Better get on it and tighten em down...

Yeah my brother in law HATES 6.5's! My father in law had a 94 crack heads and lose an ip (prob just pmd) at 100,000 miles so they all think I am crazy. I don't argue with the crazy but he stood clear after he asked when I wanted to start my cummins swap! :nono:

Last weekend we were talking body work and when I brought up needing to get the rockers done on my truck he replied "sell it and buy a real diesel". I bought the truck because I love this body style and the 6.5 doesn't scare me enough to keep me away.

A new DMax with a blown motor because you overheated it and determined owner neglected or owner modified so not covered under warranty will also cost you the price of 3 6.5 trucks and you still have the payments.

All motors explode at some point. When set up right the 6.5 has plenty of towing power and reliability. A tuned Dmax can output more power, but the 6.5 can do enough and at better efficiency than others.
