Electric Fan clutch

Need to do some more digging, but there MAY be hope yet. The 2011+ DURAMAX uses an electroviscous fan clutch on them. No info yet though on what thread is on it, but knowing GM, I bet they kept the same one to reduce costs.
Did some digging, and there may be a simpler option. The 08-13 EXPRESS vans with a DURAMAX . . .

Cool!

Looked up the specs in Hayden's listing and both the Duramax in an Express (2843) and 6.5L spin-on (2850) share a 1.86 diameter flange :) Or was this what you were trying to say?

Either way, the hunt is still on! :D

Does anyone know where to find specs on the AC Delco 1580920 fan?
From what I can find, thats the standard 01-05 duramax fan blade. It is 20.87 inches in diameter, and uses a 4 bolt mounting pattern. You can look up the specs for the mounting pattern if you look up a 2886 fan clutch.

@FERM, Thanks I was looking for diameter, as per R/A parts it is a 6 bolt and fits the EV clutch on 2010 Savannas but that EV is a spin on. I am running a bolt on. Has anyone tried running one of these set-ups yet?

If somebody can do a diagram-for-(this)dummy to help me with pin-outs for hooking up to a controller to the D-max's EV clutch, I will do this in the next month or so as I already have an excuse to take the Burb to the shop for some loving.

Theres some conflicting info on this part number. I searched it again, and it comes up as 4 or 6 bolts with the same number. If you search the 1580690 number which is for the 01-05 duramax, the 1580920 number comes up as a superceded number for it. The pictures show it as a 6 bolt though, but for some reason the 4 bolt also comes up.

I'll try and look later to see if I can find something, but I don't have any van diagrams.

I don't have access to what you're looking at, Ferm, but is it possible tbat it's dual pattern?

Radiator Fan Clutch
This is where I came up with the info I had.. Spoke to a friend at a dealership I know but he says without it in had he couldn't tell me anything (I think he was lazy! lol)

Based on pictures of the fan clutches on RA, the 4 bolt fans go to thermal-viscous clutches and the 6 bolt goes to the electro-viscous. So my read was that the van accepted either type of clutch.

I'll try and look later to see if I can find something, but I don't have any van diagrams.

All I need is the pin-out for the EV clutch :) Bonus is the part number for the side of the plug that goes to the ECM.

Does anyone know where to find specs on the AC Delco 1580920 fan?

According to Amazon, the specs are: 23.2 x 22.6 x 4.2 inches and 3.3 pounds. Not sure how length does not equal width on a circular object though . . . Even with the oblong dimensions, seems a bit big to fit under the GMT400's hood, so it looks like Ferm's observation of a larger size is correct (as usual :) )

So, while we have an OE-ish fan clutch, the hunt remains for a fan.

Those are the dimensions of the box, so it's most likely a 21" fan which is a 01-05 duramax fan blade. The vans that this fan fits also calls for the same fan blade as the fan blade the 6.5ers swap in, so I'd bewilling to bet the fan and clutch from the 09 van would fit. If it wasn't for the extra height, I'd go find one to try, but I don't have any extra room in mine.
