Duramax Fan p/n 15010202

Nothing is 50$ fromGM anymore. Better getn an update. Friggin fuel tank strap is more than that now.

Your right Kenny.

Its 51 bux from GMPARTSDIRECT.com

I'm ordering one tonight.

I never would even bother, but after standing next to your 2000 for an hour or so Kenny, then standing PS fender on TD's truck, The difference at idle was 10 fold. I noticed it without even thinking about it.

I brought it up to Bill while you and TD where pulling puds.

So I was off by 1 dollar????.......It don't get no better than that the D-Max fan.....Kennedy, in his infinite wisdom, said he did testing and the Steel 20" 9 blade was a better fit/option/choice with his "Special Calibrated" fan clutch....Yeah it's calibrated to NEVER disengage.

I ran both, the the steel made no difference in my temps.....Soon as I got the 21" composite D-Max fan,...PROBLEM SOLVED!!

If the 2000 6.5's come with that 20" steel blade, then thats what Kenny has.

Added benefit is that its lighter too, not sure if its a wash as it obviously has more air resistance to create the fanwash, but it may be less strain on the the waterpump, and crank, meaning +1 hp perhaps!

GM Parts direct is very misleading.

A 4 dollar turbo drain hose (1") part was an additional 10 dollars to ship on top of the 12 dollar S&H charge for the fan.

THEN they hadd a 15dollar PROCESSING AND HANDLING fee.

Screw them. I'll get from rockauto even though it'll be another 4 days.

Ordered from Rockauto with Mutava's Discount code for $60.23.

I love that place... they sell the exact same longblock as Summit for 2,000 less :) 4800 w/ 850 Core.. NEW.

You can't compare to mine yet. I still had the stock worthless clutch. It is considerable differnt with the new clutch.

As long as it engages before 210 I think the stock fan is just fine. Plus I think the 99-00 have a different fan than mine too. I never had a problem with the fan, only engagement, but for 60 bux why not...

Is the Duramax fan a for-sure bolt on thing to the later model clutch with the four bolt pattern for the fan? Does anybody have one in hand yet? I'm needing to get a new fan and don't want to get something ordered that won't fit when I get it. If I'm understanding everybody correctly what I need is this: an 01 to 04 Dmax fan bolted to the 6.5 clutch with the four bolt fan mount.

Yes it fits the bolt on fan clutch with 4 bolts for the fan. I ran that setup for several years before switching to the thread on water pump recently.

Thanks bobbiemarten! Now for some searching to make sure a HO pump with the four bolt hub for the fan is available.

Matt -

WOW! $37 in fees for two parts?!? Thanks for the 'behind the scenes' look at how GMPD does business.

And Matt & Aces - Thanks for clearing up the misconceptions about using a DuraMax composite fan. Very cool addition to the knowledge base!

I'm gonna hopefully go for a test tow this weekend so if I don't like the results I get I can get the Dmax fan. Thanks for the part#.

She came and she's in! Really does suck in the air from the front of truck. After testdrive I noticed my EGT's cooled down at lesat 2x as fast before I shut down truck. (Always wait for it to drop past 300 EGT) Air flow is fantastic. Noticed a touch more low end torque, lighter fan :)

Odd thing, my idle vibration smoothed out, but now I have a touch of a vibration at my 1100 and 1350 high idle settings.

It had about 1/16'th clearance on the upper fan shroud. Not enough. So I trimmed the upper only, seem to still have about 1/2" around the bottom or so.
