Considering selling my K2500

I'm having problems with my truck and running so short on cash that I'm considering just selling the truck and getting by till I can afford another truck. So - the truck that is in my signature may be for sell.

The issues: Won't shift. Clutch won't disengage, but clutch pedal has pressure. The slave/master cylinders and pressure plate were all replaced last fall, and have receipts for them. The slave & master cylinders have been replaced 3 times within 3 or more months after the pressure plate was replaced. So...either the slave cylinder is broken for the 4th time, or maybe the synchroes in the nv4500 need replaced. (I haven't dropped the tranny cause I don't have the money to fix anything that could be broken...)

Also, erratic throttle. When I started it today it would idle fine, but when when I tried to rev it up, it wouldn't stay above idle. Instead it'd rev up to what I tried keeping it at, and then drop down to idle. My guestimation is either a Throttle Position Sensor, or a complete guess would be OPS??? Fuel flow from bleeder hose is fine and normal.

So...knowing these things, what would a good sell price be, or what would you offer? I'll answer any questions if I know the answer to them. I have 200k miles on the truck. Engine seems to run great, and very happy with the truck. My only complaint has been the transmission, and that's only been recently, honestly.

Just thought of something - a 14 bolt usually goes for 800-1200 bucks and a 6.5TD goes for what...500-1000? So, it'd be safe to start at 2800? Just a thought. Not saying I'd sell it, but definitely would consider something like that or best offer...

Well depends on what the buyer would know about a 6.5 Diesel. I personally would say if it has had that many problems with the clutch you need to rebuilt/replace everything to ensure its going to be ok. So there is a good buck. The fuel issue could be a few things. Possibly something as simple as a ground? Or possibly a bad PMD? Is the body rust free? Dents/dings? Interior wear and tear? Leaking fluids or blowby? Brakes? If it was OBD-1 i would be a lot more interested, cheaper to modify chip wise. All stuff i would ask if i was going to check it out. Where i come from (NY State) We are more interested in the body condition than mechanical problems. Down where you are maybe people dont care as much about the body since most are in good shape. Sounds like you've got some issues with 2 pretty important parts of your rig.

I fibbed about the rear axle price too. Apparently the only high priced axles are heavy duty fronts. So...please ignore that, haha. And I still have the receipt for the slave cylinder, so I suppose I'll drop the tranny and see what's going on... Also, I'll plug in the stock pmd and see if that takes care of the issue.

Maybe I should've put this in the 6.5 forum and not the classifieds...Moderators - if you'd like to move it, feel free...

I really like that truck... hmm
and yeah that rear axle probably only goes for 50 unless its limited slip then maybe 100.

have you dropped the trans yet?

I don't believe there is a throttle position sensor. Either the PMd or the IP is probably shot. Where'd you get the PMD ? What kind is it ? If it's a flight Systems...

no, his is internal. 92-95 was external, and a GM specific bellhousing to trans. bolt pattern, and 96-up is internal, and same bellhousing to trans bolt pattern as dodge.

forest, provide an exact list of what you bought and installed, with part brands if possible. could it be junk parts syndrome? Dual mass or single mass?

Do the later ones (95+) have the same possiblity of installing the throw out bearing wrong ?I have never worked on a 95+ . Do they have a clutch fork or is the slave and throwout bearing sort of integral ?

BTW, Gump....It is against 6.5TD Ordinance to cut up a 5 spd equipped truck. If you want my honest opinion, shitcan that worthless DS4 and drop a DB2 on it. you got a 5 spd. It's easy. You lose a bit of performance but you'll love the truck and you'll feel like trusting it again....:D

did i mention how i love the "OBD None" on my K-5? :hihi: Kenny has s good point. After owning one truck with each, the electronics are nice, when they work. When they don't, they are a nightmare. Also after owning a completely mechanical truck you become accustomed to how the truck sounds, so you'll know when something sounds wrong with it, without the need of the stupid ECM to tell you.

I just love the "feel" of mechanical. I won't BS anyone, my Burb has more power but I'd drive that 93 to guam and back without blinking an eye. That burb is a crap shoot of what the f is gonna go wrong with it now...Nope, electronics and diesels ...well just ask some Cat owners...They spend up to 17,000$ to convert to mech. I'd only cost you a pump and lines..:D
I can honstley say I would never own another DS4 equipped truck. As Bobbie MArtin would say...I relocate my PMD to the trash can....Course if Mikek3500 would git goin...we could see more power in a mech setup...:D

The ONLY way to get $2800 out of a truck with that much wrong is to part it out. With major tranny troubles[$1500+] and engine problems[possible ip $1000] you would be lucky to get anything over $1000.

If your IP is dead, I would definitely lose the DS4. It would actually be cheaper to convert. You would not need the FTB either. That is not needed on a DB2. Tranny, DK, could be synchros, slave, or the 5th gear nut. Describe again exactly what is wrong with it. You said clutch not disengaging ? That does not sound like a tranny problem. Could be a bad slave. All the parts are made in China junk. I had a brand new master blow out and 2 slaves blowout.

For the throttle Issue I would look at the throttle pedal assy itself as it is a fly by wire system, when they go bad they seem to do what what you described. I know for a new throttle pedal they are big bucks but I'm sure you could find a good used one on the cheap.
For the clutch, do you still have the dual mass setup in there? What did you put in for for a pressure plate and did you replace the disk? I'm wondering if maybe you mixed and matched a duel mass with a single mass clutch. What style flywheel do you have in there now? I know I'm asking a lot of questions but we need more info to help you with this problem.

the slave cylinder shaft is hollow, so it slips over the input shaft, and the throwout bearing is mounted to the ram. not much chance of mess up, but plenty of chance of parts guy having glazed eyes and a lip ring, and lack of quality control on import parts.

I would also make sure there is no mixing of DMF and SMF stuff.
