Building a Jeep Comanche Truggy, 6.2 6.5 swap help

Yes you can flip both the van manifolds around, driver side to passenger, and passenger to driver and this will point both of them foreword. But you have to find the right set. There is one set that the driver side wraps around the back of the head- wrong one.

I needed the whole set up-intake & exhaust manifolds, turbo, up pipes, injectors. So I waited for a van/van engine for sale. It took me about a 10 month wait and a trip from where I live (basically Las Vegas) to Phoenix Az. I paid way more than I would have for a regular 6.5TD engine, but rare = more $. No effin way I would do it all again.

Really consider custom made headers, you will be much happier with the results. The funny part is a better fab guy will charge less to build them, because more skill allows a faster build and less labor so a lower cost.

Sorry to have started the propane conversation here, didn't mean to derail your thread. Just trying to offer options for you, having been in the power lacking 6.2 , 6.5 realm for some time- both on and off road.

Ya even with the van manifolds it would take some fab work to make them work... i really hate the idea of what it takes to build manifolds... lol... i have a tube bender actually but can only bend up to 2in and right now largest die i have is 1.75... that may actually be large enough with this tube lol... id have to measure the ports...

no prob on the propane... im interested thats just something i would look into if i went NA and long after i got the motor in and running with lots of money in new parts lol...

Its possible you might could use your 6.2 manifolds pointed forward. Worth a look.

i thought about that on mine but the drivers side points nearly straight down between the last to cylinders... well wait i was thinking power steering gear box but it would be on the other side... gotta look at the passenger side manifold exit again...

well i gave up... im not gonna easily be able to fit the turbo type setup easily... sold the motor last night... im leaning more towards a 12V in the flat bed and moving that motor in my comanche and mount it to the AX15 OEM tranny...

So itll be awhile before i kick back on that build... just wanted to update for anyone that ends up googling or searching this... itll be months before i post back im sure lol...

Thanks for the help fellas!! gonna start another thread for the issue im now having with my flatbed 6.2... feel free to charm in!

So i bought a set of reman injectors with italian bosch nozzles and all pop tested within like 40psi of each other... ran great and hard start gone... for about 2 days... then it started knocking like hell... pulled over and had no oil in it... knew it was to late but tried anyways... filled it back up and made it maybe 200 yards before i blew the side of the block out... its my own fault... pretty pissed about it cause i love the truck... smart move would be part the truck out... i just got all the glow plugs done... beds done... LED's all around... tinted the windows... replaced all the light housings and covers... replaced the grill and headlight bezels... did a lot recently... then bam... i killed it... i can get the military take outs for $1650 shipped to a dock close to work... they are oil pressure tested and compression tested then wrapped up... is that a pretty good deal compared to other places yall may know about?

id of course do some small mods while its out... port and polish... intake from a turbo motor... maybe banks manifolds since mine are shot... go tubro later just block it off for now...

I have a engine I took in trade. Its a 599, has some kind of home made stud girdle, heath cam (brand new). Thats all I know about it. $1000 + shipping will by it. It was Reds motor. Again I don't know anything about it other than what Ive said, so I'd plan to go through it if it was me.

Im in griffin GA... do you have a fastenall? Ive found shipping big heavy stuff they are the best priced... they started shipping freight kinda but dont really advertise it...

What do you figure it weighes sitting on a pallet? 600#'s?
4'x4'x4'?
I can call them myself and get a quote so all u would have to do is drop it off there...

Is the engine complete with accessories or just the block heads and intake? Turbo manifolds or anything like that?

Im pretty serious about buying by the way... got pics you can txt me?? Lots and lots kf oics would be great and answer a lot of my qustions... would be awesome... 6785886661

Its complete long block with lower intake and DS exhaust manifold.
PM me your email address and I'll send a bunch of pictures.
I think we have a fastenall here.
The P400 I just got came with a very solid crate, I'll put it in that for shipping. Should be 600-650#s
If you'd like I can put the IP (db2) (4911 I think), lines, injectors on it that come on it for $450.

[email protected]

So it doesnt have injectors or a IP on it right now?

I think mines alright... but im not sure its enough and its got right at 100k... my injectors are coarse thread 82 so they wouldnt work either... i would probably have to say i would need the ones red had on it...

DS driveshaft??

Would the motor run NA till i was able to build a custom turbo setup you think??

Injection system was removed, I put the plastic plugs in to fill the holes though. Still have it all in a box, but I'll put it on the long block for shipping if you like. Should reduce chance of damage?
Should run NA.
Email or PM me your email address.

Emails posted above in my last message...

Its probably the same IP i already have... mine should work fine i would think unless that one is modded internally... probably would only need the injectors and lines... they will be different... would they be the same injectors that was in it or a different set? Whats you number cause it would be easier just to discuss it over the phone lol

Just back out the fuel screw 1/4 turn while you run it n/a or it will smoke from I burned fuel under acceleration. Then turn it back it when you mount the turbo. The higher pop pressure on the injectors won't hurt anything being n/a vs turbo. It will just idle with a tad more clatter.
