Att dyno results

Anytime. I would love to see a dyno from an HX40 turbo some here are running. Not even to compare results, which would be hard since every dyno is different, but just to see the great advancements in the world of 6.5L's

I have the other smaller housing I am going to swap in on Friday hopefully. I think fuel right now is pretty well set but I will see how this smaller housing reacts. I think with a bit faster spooling housing I can bring torque up but all things considered it still built great torque even high in the RPM so I am not unhappy about that at all. Also I am going to buy a stage II snow performance water/meth kit from a friend of mine as soon as I get my tax return back, and when I can, I plan on going to the dyno with the smaller housing. I will make two runs without running the water meth and the final run running it with a 20% mix. This way not only will we be able to see the difference in housings, but will also be able to see the benefits of the water/meth injection, so it will be good info. Hope you guys stay tuned

Sounds great. For WMI I recommend a nozzle amount of 10gph (about 600cc/min), and two 5gph nozzles would be good for better atomization

I am not sure exactly what nozzles he has now that came with the kit but I will try to check with him when I go back home. Its finals week here at college. Im ready to be done and back home.

I wonder if you would have better results with the original sized ATT and hitting about 17psi of boost, perhaps faster spooling as well.

The difference in spooling is not that great ( somewhat different), I have run both and have over 5000 miles on the turbo that was returned. There is a difference but if I were towing all the time I would use the larger housing. I like the larger housing myself and for my truck. Numbers for my dyno run still in the works.

On side not I have one customer that informed me he is running a 35 foot motor home towing his 20 foot race trailer/ On the highway 12 psi boost steady at 65 to 70 MPH, went from 7 miles to the gallon to 9.5 just by adding the turbo. Mechanical pump as well. Be interesting if the DS4 could make more power.

Having peak torque at 3100 is real nice for the towing group. Not to mention I think those are rear wheel numbers, not engine numbers, If I am correct. Thanks to 6.5L and his dad, they were level headed about this. Maybe there is a way to post the gm turbo numbers with the ATT numbers to see where the rpm and torque differences are.:agreed: THANKS 6.5L:cool:

I think there is a sticky about the dyno results. I know the results I had with my GM-3 are in the sticky. Not sure where to find it though. I can't remember. I know peak torque with the GM-3 (331 ft lbs) was made at 2800rpm, and the peak horsepower I made with the GM-3 (203rwhp) was made at 3800rpm. And thank you Slim for allowing me the privilege of being able to work on this project. It's great that we are able to help!

I'm working again so it would be possible to do the side by side after the motor is broke in. I just won't be able to do them in one weekend at least. Of course, with the new cam, my shift points will be a little higher:hihi:

Whenever you're ready to send that other housing, I'm ready to swap it out. At least get a visual on whatever damages may have been done when it got abused by who'sits.

my wmi is a 10gph and a 5 gph set of nozzles. Devilsown, works great and no complaints except I recommend powering the pump with either a push button or toggle switch wired up so the pump can only operate after the engine starts. I guess tapping a relay off the ops would work.

I guess this kit I am getting has a electronic controller and everything for it. So I can just shut it off until I want to use it

Very nice numbers 6.5L! Considering how relatively stock your set up is those are very impressive numbers. Are your injectors running standard nozzles?

Next dyno run, PLEASE record it if possible! :D The number of 6.5 dyno runs on youtube is downright pitiful.

I keep saying this but sometime this year my truck will hit the rollers.

standard nozzle german bosch 2300psi pop. Maybe 1000miles on them. And i had a buddy video it but he took video of the display screen and not my truck. I didnt realize until after the fact. My bad guys. You can hear my truck in the video and see the graph as it happens but thats about it. I can upload it if you guys want.

yes, larger than the original. And boost was around 12-14psi.
You got some room to add more fuel. I have been getting 18 PSI under full load with the 1993. I get 14 PSI unloaded. Of course I have an automatic. I also have the smaller housing.

Seeing the ATT at 18 PSI would be interesting. It would take more fuel to get there or the different housing.

Nice #s and thanks for sharing. Has me wondering what my '99 would produce on the rollers?

I used to hang out in Cody back in the 90's. One of my favorite places to be...still. Is this on a stock motor or was anything special done to it? What kind of fuel mileage are you getting?

Great numbers!!

The motor is a Optimizer 506 NA cast block. Comes with the Square stamp pre-cups I think. The rotating assembly is stock with what the motor came with. 21.3:1 compression. No head studs. It as stock as can be really. Has a 195* thermostat. NV4500 5 speed manual with 4.10 rear end gears. One Ton Single Rear Wheel Regular Cab. Doing 70mph (2500rpm) in 5th, I average about 19-21mpg depending on the damn Wyoming wind. I have driven very light before on a tank and somehow managed to net 22mpg but let's face it, I am a college kid. Driving light all the time isn't my style. And I claim Cody as home. beautiful beautiful place

Very nicely done. Tire size? How long have you had the motor? How is it for towing?

My oldest son played basketball at and graduated from Cody High. Miss living on the Southfork and looking at the Carter Mountains!

265/75/16 for tires. I have had the motor since last September. It is great for towing but I do not tow that often. But it does just fine. I graduated from Cody High School in 2009. and Carter is beautiful. I wake up every morning to it. I actually live on the Sourthfork but work for the Forest Service on the Shoshone from the Forest boundry on the Northfork to the East Entrance of Yellowstone. Great area.
