Att dyno results

Wanted to say that those are really nice numbers with obvious room for improvement. Right now your engine is probably very close to making 300 hp at the crank! That's nothing to sneeze at and keep up the great work!

I think it probably helps quite a bit. In my opinion, automatics are notorious for eating power. I really dislike automatics :)

congratulations for qualifying for my favorite forum member of the week with that statement. where is the facebook like button when it is actually necessary? :) at the very least, highly agreed!

There is a reason why Standard is the overwhelming majority in the UK and Europe. ;)

Also as an interesting point in the UK if you pass your test driving an Auto you are not endorsed to drive Standard. You'd have to retake the test in a standard for that. Makes sense to me, It makes me giggle to observe my friends hopping around the place in a standard. :D

Cheers

Sure, automatics do have some good points, but overall I think manuals are much more controllable, cheaper, and can handle power a lot better

They are also more efficient, forced to be in neutral when stopped saves fuel and not worrying about when torque converter will be locked.

Can't wait to see new dyno results.

You guys must be young, I'm sick of shifting gears, I'll take an auto any day.:D

You too, Me as well. In my younger days I would have an automatic, then a standard then go automatic then standard and so on. wasn't till I hit 34 that I decided automatic from now on. If I wanna play with the gears, I ride my motorcycle.

Just turned 34 and while I'm dropping new motor in the Dually I am converting to an NV4500! And getting ready to do dads 02 4wd ext cab! Its an old gas powered truck(stolen recovery missing motor) that I converted to a 6.5 and now the 5-speed. He is 55!

I'm sure there will be a time when I envy those with automatics, but for now, I'm too much in love with the possibilities of a manual :) although if I had this truck just for fun and play and towing and a small car or something as a daily driver that I just would use from A to B, the car would be an auto.

Nah whenever I drive a standard, I drive like I stole it. There something about flying into a corner and dropping down through the gears.

Cheers

You can do that with autos pretty much, not the same, but a 4 speed has all gears on the shifter on something sporty or powerful. Our 6-speed automatic has shiftronic for manual shifting by button, paddle shifters were an option.

Just to clarify my x3, I meant I'll take an auto. I'll give up a little power to he ground for a more sedate ride in my dd/tow rig.

I wasn't intending to call anyone "young".

"Still young" maybe, I'm 46 and young is a state of mind for me!

Lol!

STANDARD ALL THE WAY! All the classifieds I saw while I was shopping for my 6.5 STANDARD said "fresh" or "rebuilt" or "new AUTOMATIC transmission" Standards won't make you feel like your in a minefield with booms and bangs, shifting hard enough to bruise kidneys, leak oil for no reason then stop, shift into four low first gear and stay there for hours, then shift fine. Clutches can be fixed easily, Auto's require a grand just to be up on a hoist.

Max boost with the new housing now is 15-16psi max, and that is unloaded. Loaded, I managed to hit 18psi on a hill but in this housing, boost doesnt shift that much between loaded and unloaded. At least with me it didn't. Either way, the thing is like a rocket ship! I can't wait to see what it does on the dyno
