Anyone runnin' CB's?

i got the same everything as the penguin, Cobra 29 WX NW ST with weather and NightWatch. as of right now, i have 2 BLACK(not red:D) firesticks on the mirrors. soon to be switched out for 2 wilson trucker 2000's on my rack. CB mounted on the headliner, with a piece of small flatstock on the top side for support. waiting for somebody, anybody :D to build me a console for the headliner to fit the CB in, and a few other cubbies.....

I don't have one in my 95 yet but I have an old 23 channel Cobra 29 in my Mack. I just put on a 102 " whip and what a difference that makes. I just bought a Magnum S6 with the nitro nobs I'm going to stick in there pretty soon.

Mark

now im runnin the wilsons, an making a "console" that is gonna sit on the floor in front of the middle seat with cb, scanner, and all switches for all my lights. what to do for an external speaker.....

runnin a cobra 18 nw wx with clear coax, an wilson 2000's on the 95 mack. what a hunk!!!!

I'm running a Ranger ss3700 sideband and a Cobra 29LTD classic both have 40 up 40 down channel kits. The cobra dead keys about 1 watt and swings 18!! Drives the crap outta my little Pride 100 amplifier....oh wait, that wouldn't be legal, my Pride 100 foot heater, yeah that's it! I had stopped using them about 15 years ago until I was on a trip to Colorado and got stuck on the interstate for over two hours, mostly stopped, or just moving along about 2 mph.....finally got to a huge bridge crossing a huge river and there was a fuel tanker truck that had, well, run out of fuel. What a joke, he was sitting in the emergency lane on the bridge and not bothering anybody - friggin rubber-neckers. My Buddy got out of my truck and walked over to a semi and asked the driver if he knew what was going on up ahead that was causing the delay....he filled us in on the details.
I swore after that trip I would never, ever travel again without one.

I am running a Cobra 29 WX NW ST. Right now its mounted underneath the dash right under the three outlets. I have the mounting bracket from Merchant on the front of my truck right at the windshield...

Wow, I persoanlly can't stand them from years of driving a Sand Trailer on LI. In fact most of the guys running sand (myself included) were runnning Connex 3300.s We ran the low side of 19 so not to have to listen to the witless banter from these guys (HEll I'm tellin my dispatcher I aint never coming to NYC again, these 4 wheeles are crazy) BS. Mine is sitting in my Basement collecting dust. Exactly where it should be. Cellphones, GPS and Nextel made them pretty obsolete. I suppose one could be helpful travelling. For me, too many years having to listen to it.

or where the bears are... I use my CB every day, I rarely use my cell phone and I sure dont have a gps or a nextel (isnt that a phone also?) recken im a hilljack

use em for work. ya it gets loud and annoying when you get into the bigger citys, but helpful for traffic info. especially the bears..... for some reason, they love us as customers

I have mine, I rarely turn it on. I got tired of the foul language and the High School mentality of the morons always talking crap and threatening each other... I keep it for some traffic and emergency's...

yep. thats why i hate making the sand run to new haven

Yep I got a cheapy 13 year old Maxon Wally world special. Now that being said... arials make all the diff. Its mated cophaze to 2 36" fire sticks on my West coasts. I get out around 5-6 all the time, But once I was out about 15 mile sitting up on a hill lookin down on the interstate with same setup. I agree with most the childish BS on them any more is crazy. I use mine when snowplowin. I also had one in the push truck that is an absolute must there. You have 6-7 push trucks runnin around a dirt track startin sprint cars. You have to be able to talk to each other.

I sometimes drive out of state to truck/car shows and we usually go in a PACK of about 6 or 8. I mentioned a CB to the guys and it was like it fell on deaf ears. They'd rather fumble with a f'in cell phone.

I was sick of getting a phone call when 'so and so' need to exit and get fuel, heed Mother Nature, eat, whatever.

Just key the mic and it's done. But no.

North star 330 sideband and talk back and factory echo tuned with swinger kit, with a Wilson 1000 mounted inside bed in front of tool box.

Nextel , bout as usefull at titis on a goose.......We had them at work for 10 years and after no improvement in that time out they went. That said my CB is a hidden unit by Cobra with a 48" fire stick. works good out 5-6 miles depending and its out of sight

I have a Galaxy DX959(30watts) and a white tornado 225+(225 watts) for a linear on a Dave made antena talking through an astatic noise canceling mic. I can talk to four different towns on a clear night with mine and with my buddys in thiers. It is real nice when you live in the middle of no were and cell phone signals drop out everywere;). All of my buddys have similar setups, when we go on a road trip it makes it alot more fun. I also agree with what other have said about getting reports. I can recieve 15 miles with this setup barefoot on a clear night and no hills, great antenna):h.

hahahaha hate to say it that your white tornado isnt 225 watts thats the model number. i have one too and i get 150watts out of mine. and im tlaking on a galaxy 959 with a 5 watt dead key. the farthest i ever talked was from milwaukee wisconsin too arkansas on lower side band. i can get 15 miles plus out of my 959 barfoot and i got a wilson 5000 trunk mount. now i got a rm italy amp that swings out too 250watts and smokes the white tornado i got and its was only 50$ for the amp. whats sad is ibought the white tornado for 50$ used and i jsut got a new amp thats better for the same price

Wilson fgt 3, fgt4,fgt5 antennas. I swap em around. Fold over mount with a storage bracket for when I need clearance or just don't feel like having it on.

Galaxy 73V with a Road King 56 attached. Fired through a Wilson 2000(?) Thought maybe one could see the antenna mounted in the passenger front stake pocket in the camper photo, but I can't even see it.:rolleyes5:

just installed a Shelf it Kit in my truck. Regardless of their claim of "Guaranteed to fit your truck" it took 3 hours and major modification to install it. Had to cut 6" of the end of it!!! Anyhow, I installed my CB today. Got the power wire ran and plugged in and the antenna wire ran back down to the fire wall. I can't decide on where to mount the antenna. I can't go on top of cab because of low garage door. Any ideas? Pictures will be worth a thousand words!
