answer to spilled fuel when mixing....

................sprinkler taps, hose and ball valves along with the little tool for puncturing the plastic tubing (getting the idea yet) I would use the tool to punch a hole right above the sludge line on the cubie then stick a tap with hose and valve in there real quick. ............Also cubies are not UV resistant, so dont store them outside or you will have a mess.
i get the idea.
there was someone giving away some old oil that the containers had broken down, he warned it wouldn't be pretty if they didn't have a way of getting the oil out before moving them.
i have enough storage for quite a bit of oil, 800 gallons in plastic barrels alone. would be nice to get a supply like that. do you still have contacts? it would be worth driving your way for a large quantity. i am even willing to pay up to a dollar a gallon, might be considered a user fee for someone who can get it for free. there is a VFW on the way home that has a fish fry every Fri. will stop to see if i can get some there.

0728111129a.jpgGet a 12 volt diaphram pump for about $50 bucks at Tractor Supply. It will pump about 1-2 gpm depending. I use water hose on it and it self primes great at up to 10 feet lift and will pump thru 75 feet of hose and up and into the top of a 300 gal cubie thats up on 16 inch blocks. Put a piece of screen wire on the end of ur suction and also a ell on the bottom so u dont create a vortex sucking the gravy up from below the good oil. Heres a pic of my pump. OOps cant see the pump in the pic. I will take another and post it for u.

Well when I stoped collecting it I set someone else up with that resurant. I could see how they are doing and if the owner is happy with them. They did change their oil every week and had about 55 gallons in 2-3 weeks. They are in Clear Lake. If you can devote the time needed I'll contact them.

i can devote. see what you can do. if there are any others in that area, that would be the cats meow.

The bottom one is it. I use one thats cheaper but doesnt have a internal pressure switch like this one. The cheaper one keeps running but has a bypass relief for when u close the valve. The one in ur link will turn itself off when u shut the valve to stop pumping oil. These r great cause they r not like a rotarry pump since they use very little electricity. I carry a 12 volt jump start power pack and it will pump a couple hundred gallons without recharging. I have been using my original one for 18 months and its pumped a couple thousand gallons. Ugh Deejaa not that I dont trust ur fuge but I would run that oil thru a 5 micron filter b4 I blended it and put it in the truck. I am filtering oil now and I filter about 15 gallon a hour thru my series of filters and use three of those pumps. One pumps the oil out of the settle drums into 2 pairs of suspended bluejeans. Then that oil is pumped out of a collection tub thru a 10 micron house water filter and into two hanging store bought 5 micron filter socks. Then the third pumps it out of a drainage tub into clean 5 gallon cubies for storage. When I blend a batch of oil to put in the truck I pump it thru a 5 micron filter to catch any particles from the gas or k-i in the blend.

OK, i will be getting me one of those, that way i will be able to use it out in the field.
i think i might be stuck on using the fuge. when i get set up, i can rig it to circulate the oil for 3-4 passes. when the bowl becomes clean after a certain amount of passes, the oil will be clean enough for me.
after you filter, do you do the hot pan method? do you notice a change in color? do you test for acids? i have some ph strips but haven't used them yet.
you need to change your signature to say 'faded paint and dented hood'.

IMO, when collecting oil just dip the oil out of the 55 gallon drum with a 5 gallon bucket. It cleaner, faster and easier.
I have tried different pumps...........ect but they all make a mess, take time to set up/tear down. The returant owners only care about 2 things
1. keep the area clean.
2. Be dependable. if their drum/s get full and they have nowhere to dump oil you will get a phone call from them dumping YOU!

went by the VFW Fri, they gave me 6 gallons of oil but refused to accept money. they were throwing it in the dumpster. might have some every 2-3 weeks. it was real clean, fish only. gonna swing by there next Fri and get a plate from them.

Also check with your local churches now. Around the holidays alot of them are cooking fried turkeys.....ect and need someone to collect it. I used to get 40-50 galllons from one church every year.

mixed 10 gallons using the new funnel and spilled nothing. it paid for itself by just using it once.

picked up the pump today Bill. price was 80.00 in person, 60.00 via the web. will get it hooked up by this weekend. have a tank mounted on a table/shelf, about 6 feet up that i will pump dirty oil to, then gravity feed it to the fuge.

hooked the pump up and it works great. getting some tubing tomorrow to finish plumbing the lines. getting close, finally.

i will get some when i get the feed and fill hooked up. i will be getting some on the way home today. using clear poly. easy to heat up and fit over mixed barb sizes. had to use battery charger to run pump, 12v transformer kept throwing relay. rated at 8 amp draw.

picked up tubing. the small dia is going through the top of holding tank from pump, from cubie. larger tube from bottom of hold tank is gravity feed to fuge. only pumped about 10 gallons to hold tank, was fast, haven't used gravity feed to fuge yet. looks like it will work, tube loaded up with valve closed.

work bench looks like the floor also. i need to organize! we will get together soon. i will try to get it running to the fuge today but going out now to finish the trans. my shift now has me off on Mo/Tu instead of weekends for the next 3 months. bummer. really liked weekends.

piece of junk! the transformer is only rated at 2.1 amp, keeps tripping. pump pulls 8. batt charger was junk, kept throwing the breaker! i have 30 amp service. now i have no way to get oil to the reservoir. need to find a 12v, 8 amp or more power supply.
