Another Arrival At The Refuge

with those gears, and statements like the bolded one above, means that project Roadtrip Rig is a go! :) you should fix it and tow with it, I am curious to see if running in 4th gear direct with 3.42s is the way to trailer, as I despise running in 5th with 4.10s. as you arent supposed to tow in 5th with an NV4500! :( I am tempted to buy a local C2500 ECLB 6.5L auto 2wd soley because it has 3.42s, they want 1800...but there is also the dead 92 K3500 for 600 bucks.....

My 96 has 3.73's with the NV4500 and plenty of towing miles. 5th gear towing included. I recall hearing a issue with the dodge/cummins trucks towing in 5th but never anything about the 6.5's. Mines holding up just fine.

Barry, I wouldn't argue with you if our invited me up there to do a trans swap between my truck and the blown up one. I know you love them 4l80e trans so it wouldn't hurt my feelings one bit to give mine up and put the nv4500 in my Yukon.... ;)

The 93 I started this thread over runs and drives. The clutch is very weak and the brakes barely work besides all the rust on the body. It will be on the back burner for a while. Many other projects in line ahead of it. I have 3 nv4500 trucks now and may possibly get another 93 with one in it.I have one spare nv4500 now and 4 spare 4l80e's
