Another Arrival At The Refuge

I've been doing my heavy towing with the 92 in my sig that has 3.42 gears and a 4l80e. It works great. Maybe just a little slow taking off from a stop with 10,000+ behind but will pull it 70+ mph in OD. I drop to "D" for 50-55 mph. The key seems to be, to keep it above 1800 rpm.

Long wheel base on that puppy......But you dont pay close to those #'s for a 6.5.......you do know you could put a regular Fleetside Long bed on that?

92, also.......Mechanical IP......Go check it out, just for $h!ts and giggles....

That's the same one I sent you a couple of months ago. It's still waiting for you:D It's a 3 hour drive to go look at it.
I did sell a pretty heavy duty truck of mine today

It's a 77 GMC 1 ton 2wd dually. 454 turbo 400 tranny. It would pull anything I hooked it up to. The new owner is going to kill it for the engine and tranny. The engine only had 20,000 miles on it ,if that. It will be going in a mud truck.:(

Already sold. The rockers and floor of the bed are rusted out. I haven't driven it in 8 years. 120,000 miles or so on the body.

Don't be stingy!

:nopics:

Share that beauty!

Not much to see but I'll get some pics. It was a project I started 18 years ago and never finished. It has: new fenders, new doors, new cab corners, new rocker panels, new inner rockers, new cab supports, and new floors. Many many hours cutting and welding in all the new parts. When trying to line up the doors I found out that it had been hit very hard between the rear window and driver's door. Not a easy piece to replace and keep everything straight. I cut the piece from another cab but never put it in yet.
It has a small block 400 in it that is shot and a leaky turbo 350 with 4.10 gears. I do have another 400 and t350 or maybe a 6.2?
I'm very inclined to just dump it and forget it. It's rather pointless to build something that gets 8mpg in my opinion. I have way to many other projects that could be more practical.

As you can see:yikes::yikes: it got rather buried in junk and parts:agreed:

well, old trucks are tough, powertrains are in-efficient. get rid of the bad, keep the good. 6.5L 5spd it, and you have efficiency, and old school coolness.

For $500 or maybe even less it could become YOUR project with all of the rest of my 70's parts.:D I really don't have much desire to finish it and I need the space desperately:agreed:

thanks barry, but I am out of room already, (actually, alloted room at the folks'...I need to get my own place really bad)and I have a feeling I am gonna be a GMT400 junkie for a while.... :) dont need to get into another body style, I feel like it would be wise to limit myself to just one......for now..... :D

Heck I would almost take it. I settled for scrap 80's model trucks. I already know what I would do with it, CUCV/70's model hybrid .
