A Team Turbo

Could be a generational thing in 80s there was a movie Strange Brew worth checking out, a guys humor movie, most girlz don't get it, kinda like 3 Stooges, Second City Tv also a Canuck thing from 80s sort of the SNL of Canada, many familiar comedic faces got their start there

No, same generation, even same year I think. I watched Second City all the time. I shouldn't say I "never" watched them, they just didn't hold my attention. Leo

Jim has done his fair share of barn raisings too....

That's him in the blue shirt, suspenders and black pants...

ROFL... nobody knows how to raise a barn like us German folks! Got us a hell of a sale on those straw hats, too! (looks pretty spiffy, eh?)

Drove it again today and it definitely seems to accelerate better. The only thing I don't like, is now I have an exhaust vibration. Unrelated to the turbo, now to find out why. Nothing on the exhaust is touching metal. Leo

Funny you should mention that. After I had the custom 4 inch cat back done on mine it has had a vibration ever since and I cannot find it touching anywhere. I live with it. If something was going to fall off , it would have by now.

I found the vibration, when I rotated the down pipe it is now just touching the hanger the rubber mount hangs off of.
  • A side note for anyone installing this turbo, when the oil drain tube is cut, bolt the 2" short piece on the turbo before it is installed. there is no room to get a wrench on the bolt near the motor when it's installed.
Leo

Could we get a youtube video of a camera at the exhaust to hear this thing at idle and a rev up/down? I've seen a few on youtube with our motors with the big pipe, but not with the A-Team, that's for sure.

Good job finding the rattle.

I hate rattles, really hate them...

I'll see if I can with the camera, don't have a cam-corder. It wasn't plugged in today so I couldn't. The "turbo whine" junkies will be disappointed, I don't notice it at 15 psi. My GM-4 whined as boost went up and down, it was nice at times, at others it got annoying. Leo

OK, I was trying to stay out of this thread as much as possible because I wanted it to be objective, (minus my two cents) :smile5:.

However :D , the turbo does have whistle just not as loud as the gm series. With a more efficient compressor wheel it doesn't have to be spun as fast as the gm series to make the same air flow (cfm) hence the wheel doesn't whistle as loud. The turbo will make boost, improve mileage, and improve performance, pretty good trade off for a little less turbo whistle.

The look on a Ford or Dmax guys face when you pass him is worth it. ):h
