98 K2500 ECSB 7.4L 5-SPEED

My 402 BBC equipped 72 Monte Carlo had a pair of 24" Thrush glas-packs on it in place of the factory turbo mufflers, dumped in front of the rear axle. As I recall, not too bad for noise inside the car driving out on the highway. With the 2.73 rear, it was only turning 2000 rpm @ 60mph.

I failed to mention this yesterday, but a hunting buddy of mine use to have a 1972 Monte Carlo back in the day. It was white had a black vinyl top and had the 350 in it. If I remember correctly it had glass pack mufflers ran out the back of it. We were sitting at deer camp a few months ago, in his camper after supper one night talking about the old days and how he was a terror on the roads in that 1972 Monte Carlo. Some of the stories that he told were interesting, there was a lot of guys racing each other back then to prove who had the fastest cars. He was born in 1959 or 1960 and had experienced some of those older vehicles back in the day. Wow if we all could have just put back a factory mint Dodge Challenger, Chevy Camaro or Boss Mustang and sold it for a chunk of change today.. 😉

Sorry @smokymtn65, I didn't mean to high jack your thread, I got carried away.

All good my friend, I am going ask now.. To the great A/C specialist here .. yes we have some! spiral or parallel flow? fixed or variable for this truck. compressor was locked up, going to replace all but evap.

A couple months ago I was looking through the Donaldson muffler catalog for a replacement muffler for the Envoy.

I picked this one out based on its flow capabilities, sound reduction and cost:

This one flows less, but quiets more...... it's also 3 times more expensive:

You should get one and let me know how it works so I don't have to spend the money and time trying it out myself 😁

Of course on the Envoy I have a cam, LT headers and I don't have those thingies that like convert chemical compositions in the exhaust, so it would probably sound different for the 2 of us.

The Envoy is currently 2 into 1 and I'm wanting to keep that as well for simplicity. I may go turbo in the future so I figured when I upgrade the exhaust I may as well size it for whatever may happen in the future (plus that gives me more incentive to do it, right???). I know that would be oversize and sap a little power while I'm NA, but I'd prefer to do the exhaust once and be done rather than do it twice.

Going to repost this. Parallel or spiral flow on the A/C condenser? And fixed orfice or a variable for this truck?

Well put this truck back together last night. fired right up. set the timing , did a crank relearn and called it a night. So being a brut for punishment as they say. it's maiden voyage we 50miles to work. I made it. so that's a plus. now a list of things the need attention i didn't know about sitting in the driveway beside the horrid exhaust. lol

Ok, ordered the a/c parts but reading through other post a lot of discussion about the oil... Old charts call for PAG150 etc , Sanden Comp 4440c kit came with PAG100 some others say use PAG46 so ant input on this? THanks

@n8in8or Hey thanks for the effort. funny so much conflicting info out there. But I guess I will use the 100 since that was in the "kit" Comp, dyer, condenser.

So rabbit trail. Lol wanted to get AC working.
Put everything new under the hood. PO removed it all. Got it vaccuumed and filled. Will not turn on by the dash controls. If i jump the relay it works. Tried swapping with know good relay do not help. The "ground/negative" to terminal 30 does not react. Light on ac push button goes on and off. All fuses good.
