I have a 95 k 3500 single wheel with a 6.5 turbo 4l80e. It wont go over 53mph if I try it shifts to neutral. Dtcs 73 81 82 83 87 fluid clean no material. In pan what do I do only has 116,286 miles

Welcome to the forum!

73 Pressure Control Solenoid Circuit (Current Error)

87 Verify EEPROM is updated per campaign #67-71-53B for high ratio error:

This has electrical written all over it. No solenoid connection and the transmission will go into neutral as it can't command the clutch to lock if the circuit is open. Mice can eat a chunk of the wiring harness out - keep this in mind when looking at the wiring.

I would start with dissembling and cleaning all the grounds including both battery posts. Ground by trans oil dipstick is critical. Then go under the truck and check the main transmission connector for oil. Clean as required and check for pins backing out.

PM Member "Buddy" on here for EEPROM info as he can help verify what prom you have and if it is updated to cure the issue the older ones had.

Always dead last is looking at a bad computer.

My '95 did this and it was one of the shift solenoids. Not complicated, nor expensive.

Start with the big round gray plug drivers side rear of trans. The 1-2, 2-3, and TCC solenoid all share the 12v+ wire, your getting 12v most of the time or you wouldn't have 1st and 3rd, but could have a intermentent/bad connection on the 12v wire. If you have first, your 1-2 solenoid is working, so you should electrically be capable of overdrive.

If you have access to a scanner see what the pressure control solenoid is doing, see if its doing what the PCM is requesting, the amperage should follow close together between actual and requested. The PCM could be sending to many volts/amps to the pressure solenoid, which lowers line pressure causing it to slip and set the speed sensor code. The two pressure solenoid wires also run through that gray plug, if one wire/solenoid is open it will set a pressure control solenoid code.

Check your transmission output speed sensor(TOSS), being a 95 4x4 I think its in the transfer case, check the connector and pull the sensor itself and wipe the metal shavings off of it. But, I dont think the TOSS is the problem, I think you have a slippage and the PCM wont let you have OD.

What gear ratio is your truck? You are getting 3rd gear correct?

i changed both solenoids a/b cleaned grounds still doing same thing i gonna check and clean the main plug on side of trans what wire should i check for power i dont have access to a scanner mine was stolen thanks for all the feedback

yes i have 3rd gear

Pin "E"(IIRC the letters are on the back side of the plug), has 12v+ with key on. Its the only pin on that row(4 rows) in the plug. Dont think this is your problem, without power you would only have 2nd/R.

I'd check out the TOSS sensor, I dont know the ohms off the top of my head, think it ohms the same as the TISS(trans input speed sensor) in the front drivers side of the trans(two wire plug).

Heck I dont know, thats alot of codes. Do the codes all come back if you clear them?

Yes all codes come back all I do is disconnect the batteries:mad2:

See if they come back after you clear them if you dont drive it, just crank it up and let it idle a min and recheck for codes.

Its electrical then. I'm thinking PCM, since there wiring is not all related to each other. The pressure solenoid has its own two wires from the PCM, the TOSS has its own two wires.

You might unplug the PCM and ohm the complete circuits involved from the PCM connector.

The PCS and TOSS(unplug DRAC, ohm from DRAC connector to TOSS) circuits should have no continuity to ground.

The A,B and TCC solenoids will prolly show some continuity to ground(back feeding through the 12v wire from other circuits), if you turn the key on with the PCM unplugged you should have 12v coming back from the trans wiring on the A,B,TCC wires.
