88GMCtruck's 98 Silverado Towpig Build: "Black Fox"

Few random pictures over the last couple days...

Wheels all polished up. They aren't prefect but they are good enough for a work truck.

Right now I just have some teaser shots as I was pretty busy getting the truck together, so no full-on/complete yet :)

Tires should be in today, probably mount them on the wheels tomorrow. Doesn't matter anyway, no hub centering rings or spacers to put them on the truck yet....

Hummmmm look what I picked up tonight :)

They are tall. 32.75" without weight on them

This is the spacing the duals will have once the spacers are in.

Oh yeah... those are gonna look good if I do say so myself.

Now the downside.... I have to let them sit in the garage for about another week. :( Still need to get the lift blocks and bolts, crank the front a bit, get an alignment and the spacers and hub centering rings need to show up.

Those look great! Very classy. Your truck is gonna look more awesome then it already is.

Makes me want to go out and buy a crew cab dually!

Well I did a little bit of lifting this weekend and some fitment checking. I have some pictures but I think it's best to wait :)

I did have a little "incident". I was on my way to a party, ran into the store and left two of my friends in the truck. About 2 minutes in and one of my friends call my phone, and tell me someone backed into my truck... First thing i think of was my front bumper was ruined. Then walking up i see how the car is positioned and thought the car took out my bedside. After looking it over, truck didn't take any damage, but the torklift camper mount took a decent bite out of her car.

What a complete dip shit. Someone who can't handle a car that small has no right to drive.

At least the damage was minimal and not to the body.

Looking foward to seeing pics of the new mods!

I did put the TYC headlights in last night. I also ordered clear parking lights.

Took it in for an alignment today too.

Go ahead..... laugh it up.

And, now for an update!

Yeah they still aren't on. I know I'm just killing you all! All the parts showed up last night.... Sorta. The spacers are ready to roll but the hub rings needed signed for, and I was at work... *Doh* So off to the post office today to pick them up.

Anyway, here are the spacers from Motorsport-tech. They are machined very nicely, 10.9 wheel studs... and fits beautifully in the center bore of my wheels (which is custom made for these weld wheels). My only complaint was a couple studs weren't fully seated, had to "gently" tap them in all the way.

Also, Weld sent me some information on these wheels. Mine were made in 1988 and used a shanked lug, this catalog page was from 93 when they switched to 90 deg acorns.

And for another comparison shot for you all.... particularly dually guys. Here is a comparison between a stock 225/75R16, 235/85R16 and 255/85R16 all on 16x6 dually wheels. The difference is astounding.

I run the 235/85.16 and That is crazy on the difference.

Is it safe to run that spacer with the heaviness of the camper in the bed?

Tons of people run spacers with dually wheels. These are solid steel spacers (not aluminum like many), and are hub centric to both the truck and wheel. I talked with the company that made them and they have had zero failures and offer a lifetime warranty. They will obviously be monitored closely. Many people run the same style spacer when converting a truck from SRW to DRW without an axle swap.

Cool, just checking. Did not know they made steel ones. I would love to do this too my truck if it was 4X4. I feel it would look gay as a 2wd.

My duals rub some when I get heavy. I keep the pressure between 80 - 90 psi. I only have the 235/85 16. I do not see how he could run the bigger size tire without rubbing. The spacer looks pretty cool.
