here is one, not called a mechanical kickdown, but a modulator, anyone wanting to use a chevy, or allison trans with a diesel, or using a forced induction application will need one. I am not buying that one, just using it as an example because of the nice pretty picture. I have some more pictures.
tried to get the quick connector off of the coolant passage tube, and it just broke off, due to excessive electrolysis. Even worse still, I tried to use an extractor to get the rest out with the help of a torch, and ended up melting the rest of it in place. Now I can just drill and tap it to size.

going to do the turbo too, if I can get the bolts unfroze from the housing.
here is the turbo and intercooler, just as a reference. it is small, but I believe it will be plenty efficient enough.

Ok, so I haven't updated in a while, been busy with the move, and preparations. I need the following items to get going, seals, as in all of the engine seals, but I do not know where to source all of them from, especially the exhaust, manifold, and turbo gaskets. It is very confusing, there is supposedly no "end all" kit, but a head gasket kit, and a conversion kit, I need both??? I need a new fan and clutch, I still need to source an injection pump and lines. I need a torque converter, mechanical modulator "190 bucks really???" and the appropriate flex plate. plus nickel and dime parts like hoses, bolts, etc. what is the part number for the arp bolts? I may just go ahead and change the head gaskets, not that I think it necessary, but since I have to get the head gaskets any way I might as well, besides, it will give me peace of mind. the wiring harness is a bit of a challenge, removing all of the crap I don't need is not fun, I just need fuel pump connector, fuel stop, and starter wires, as well as the glow plug circuit, anything else I'm forgetting??? finally have some money to finish this, so i want to get moving as soon as I can.

update time: I have in my possession an IP and lines, with some other goodies. all I need now is the rest of the stuff, and some help setting the timing. I don't have any fancy schmancy equipment for this particular process, so It looks like I'm going by ear. I still need to source a mech modulator for the thm400. I do not want to spend 180 bucks on one. There must be a vehicle that came with one that I can get the part from.

For wiring I'd contact Racedaymechanic/ptwiring solutions. For parts hit up burningoil/Leroy Diesel. I've gotten top notch service from both guys.

I saw you post about the DS4 you want to trade in the other thread. What year motor is it off of?
I have a harmonic balancer (no pulley) that you can have for the shipping cost.

What branch are you in? Im guessing Marines because of the 29 Palms address?

off of a 95' pretty low mileage considering, was going to make a remote cable for it, and remote mount the pmd, I even have a gargantuan anodized aluminum heatsink for it. sweet, that would be great. I have the pulley, do I need to swap that too?

Pulley is the same. Racer55 just posted on a source for them. I call BS on not saying what branch your in:). You've allready stated your millitary. BTW a Corpsman is Navy so, not a Marine or Navy:scratchchin: Hmm whats left?. do you wear a green or blue uniform?

PM me you email address and I'll get the HB going.

lets just say that I'm a card carrying member of the United States Military, and leave it at that, well...... for now anyways. In the mean time, if you really must know PM me, some folks here seem to know something about 29palms and it's notorious notoriousness.

it isn't a problem with the tv cable, that I can source, what everybody looks at me funny about is the mechanical modulator, I have been called druck, high and even kicked out of a transmission shop because the guy says he has been working on transmissions for 40 years and has never heard of a mechanical modulator, there is no such thing. I know that such a thing exists, I know where I can buy one, but for 200.00 that is steep.

and I still need an IP, at least a core, I'll trade my ds4 for it with some cash on top but I need that thing like two weeks ago. I got a flexplate from a member, and gave a trans shop three bad th350 cores for a good, low stall converter. I'm in good shape but for the TV, mod, and IP, that's it.

yea many mechanics nowadays have no idea what mechanical injection, or a carb is let alone a non-computer controlled automatic transmission.

Another name for the TV cable is 'kick down' cable.

Hell one of our local mechanics doesnt believe in servicing rear drum brakes. Told me I might as well just save the money on parts and cut the lines now.
