6.5 turbo(gm4) on a 6.2

tough is right. I only had the cut 3 outta 16. and all of them were rusted into the manifold itself. the new only were well coated with neversieze. not doing that again.:nonod:

got the DS off today. a 6.5 manifold would fit but your gonna have to modify the oil cooler lines. no luck on mine though, the clutch(mechanical) is in the way. so back on goes the stock.:rolleyes5:

has anybody ever put the box style fuel filter on the frame? I'm having a issue on where to mount it, the original location makes me kinda uneasy. it about 2in away from the turbo.

I've narrowed the possibilities down for a lift pump, either stock('93) walbro, or I've seen a few out the mini pumps for diesel. the mini's are about the same price as the walbro. the stock one 60 bucks more.

the only thing about putting it on the frame is you'd have to put a T in higher to bleed it. other than that I can't think of any flaws.

ran into a couple of SNAFU's.

the air filter is a big headache. the coolant tank currently is sitting where the filter is supposed to be. I either gotta move the tank or run the filter straight of the turbo as opposed to a 90* bend. suggestions?

2 issue.tried to find a spot on the frame but the exhaust pipe is gonna be just aas close as the turbo is. how much heat can a filter take?

Using a 6.5 FFM isn't a bad idea . It should be able to be wired into the harness for the square one but would need a schematic. Are you fabing a crossover or using a stock 6.5 one ? Also did I miss it..Do you have long or short injs and did the turbo manifold fit ?

Everything fit. I think I've got the short injectors. The crossover is gonna be a custom due to a 6.2 DS manifold with a 6.5 PS. The 6.5DS will fit with some oil line mods but the mechanical clutch is the way.

I'll post pics ASAP. gotta do some editing first.

well my luck is not here today. got everything together except for the exhaust. go to start it and all crank but no fire. turns out the be the shutoff solenoid not in right, take to back apart and do it again and still no luck. I know it works but I can't seem to find the spot where it's supposed to fit. does anybody have a cutaway pic and advice on how to get it to work?

IIRC you can't drop it striaght on. You have to start with it a little forward and slide it into place. I changed mine with no issue on the truck.

Start with the cover towards the front of the engine about 3/4 of an inch or so and slide it into place. You can't drop it straight on. In fact it won't go straight on so if you did that you may have bent something.

thanks. ya I caught the bend I put in the arm. I think I've got it on the right way now. still working on getting fuel into the injectors but the batteries are dead. another SNAFU.

Just make sure the throttle is working correctly. If not you can jam the IP in a WOT state, and turning off the key will do nothing and the engine will keep screaming. Scary situation, never been there, and hope i never am.

Kenny is correct. The top cover starts slightly forwards of the bolt holes and you slide it "back" towards the firewall until the bolt holes line up.

.
Keep a big heavy coat handy to shove on the air intake to stall it. Had to do that with a runaway Detroit. Either that or yank the fuel line off. No fuel, no run.

had to do the coat trick before. different reason though. first gotta get it to start, haven't had alot of free time to work on it. I'll be glad to have the truck back. the van works but not nearly as much fun.

well my luck is up to par. none that is. I still can't get it to fire. I've got fuel to the DS injectors forsure but nothing showing on the one on the PS. is the any faster method of clearing the air out or do I gotta keep on cranking? AFAIK I didn't change anything but missing something is not out of the question.
