6.5 Burb suburban diesel or Duraburb?

I meant reliable referring to the one-off nature of the swap, not the duramax itself. I can picture going down the road 8 hours from home with the family and a camper behind, and the truck shuts off with no warning. Now what? I wouldn't know where to start or what to check on a conversion. Nor would any shop I could find. That's stranded.

Diagnostics even on mine are very straight forward just like it would be on the donor truck it came from. A TECH 2 or any other scanner hooks right in, and I made it a point to use off the shelf parts in mine with modifications to the BURB or slight mods to the parts to work. Alot of this boils back down to how you plan and do your swap though. I know Eric at DURABURB makes it a point to use only GM parts in his swaps so as to keep them serviceable by any dealership out there(only exception being teh ECM in the LMM and newer swaps as they have to have the security system disabled in the ECM to function properly).

Is Duraburb licesned by the EPA to do the swaps ? AFAIK you cannot change an engine, fuel system , emissions system from Factory. Unless things have changed I remember back in the late 80's early 90's when Ford came out with Multi Port EFI on the 351w. What a bag of sh%t. It was a nightmare even the dealers could not fix. I know many people who ripped the fuel inj and ignition system out and put edelbrock carbs on but this was illegal to do . In NY it didn't matter cause all the shops that did emissions were crooked and you could usually bribe a sticker into place.. I never had an issue...My point though AFAIK these conversions are illegal unless done by a shop registered witht he EPA to do so. Again I must point out that before building or buying any Conversions, check your local laws. That is alot of money to spend and not be able to get plates on it. Ferm, your burb would not pass emissions in CT and consequently could not be registered here.

in most places if you install a newer engine that came in an older vehicle's wieght category your good. for example like 90's 3/4 ton truck and you swap in a 2005 cummins. CT sounds like it has some strict emissions laws so your limited to your options

DURABURB leaves it up to you to check local laws as far as emissions goes. It has been discussed at length and as far as I know so long as you install a newer engine with all of the emissions equipment it is legal so long as it is in the same class as your vehicle.
