4L80E Harsh shifting from 1st to 2nd

Hope you have your thumbs too.
Unlike the table saw operator..
Still, so far.
Watched a fellow mechanic, working on a Big Cam Cummins, standing on a step stoop of sorts, engine was running, needed a little balance, stuck his hand down, wrong place, alternator fan took off the end of his index flinger.
Nope, no nub to glue back on.

Around 2005ish
I had my left thumb bone broken just after the last knuckle. Broke off so hard it tore the end of my thumb off.
Went to the hospital and by chance there was a hand surgeon convention in Vegas that week. My Dr was getting off shift when several of the other surgeons visiting for it went to that hospital to get him and were heading golfing from there.

So there is a bunch of doctors passing around the end of my thumb looking at it and taking turns looking at the half of my thumb still attached. They all do some talking and and I ask ā€œwhat do yall thinkā€ to one of them.
He says- probably take off that little piece of bone at the knuckle and sew up the rest. Another guy says - maybe try putting the end back on just for aesthetics but it wonā€™t work and might get infected.
Then my Doc says ā€œIā€™m gonna do a such and such repair, then do a such and such for the tendons. It will look mostly right and you will have limited movement & I doubt any infection worries.ā€

So I said ā€œOK, I pick you as my surgeon.ā€ He laughed and said ā€œlucky you, I actually am your surgeon these other guys are just voicing opinions.

So he invented a new way to fix this kinda problem on the spot. No one notices my thumb unless I point it out. And it worked part way like he said it would.
Itā€™s tender- canā€™t handle big impacts without pain like before. And I canā€™t make a proper fist - enough it messed me up in a martial arts tournament a few years later Chuck Norris used to put in yearly.

My mistake that caused it- a co worker as a crane rigger and his brother (my boss at the time) was operating the crane. The coworker pulled a remote release for the load when a huge piece of metal wasnā€™t in place yet. It almost took out my head- I had to sacrificed the hand to save my skull.
The guy felt so bad he couldnā€™t look me in the eye & quit the job even though I forgave him. He has the guilt & I got a cool story- haha.

Oh yeah- before the questions-
The spotty color started when I was 45. Vita largo - basically my body thinks itā€™s allergic to the melanin in my skin so it rejects the melanin and makes it like albino. Saw same dr that Michael Jackson saw for it. No- he never bleached his skin. And it started on one hand on him - thats why he wore the one glove for years before he found makeup that hid it.
