1994 Chevy K3500 6.5 diesel 4x4

Did you ever sight glass it ? Clear tubing very cheap. IP very expensive. Changing the fuel lines does not eliminate the possiblity of air in the fuel. In fact it increases it(if you left something loose. It's a cheap easy test. The sending units are known to deteriorate right at the bend going into the tank. This happended to my Burb and you'd swear the IP was shot. My dually had same thing but had just started to pull air. If there is ANY air in the fuel the OS will go nuts.

Engine not running when checking codes. Have cleaned all grounds on engine and battery terminals cleaned also. Checked all those plugs at rear of intake and clean and plugged in good. Wiring harness in valley to IP good shape. Possibly clogging sock in tank about only thing havent checked. Have to drain tank and take it down. Dropped several tanks over the years and they always fun.

Havent used sight glass yet. Will when grandson gets here. Two heads better than one even though mine is hard headed. LOL Tightened every line carefully when changed them. Will check pressure in line now that I changed LP. Have to wait until evening before can work on truck. Too hot outside for my taste and no shade trees close. What about changing speed control sensor, it could be stopped up? What about changing optic sensor, could it be messed up? Thanks

What would several gallons of well used trans fluid do to engine? Seems like that would defeat purpose of diesel fuel, just asking. You guys are the experts, Im a newbee to diesels, very good on gasoline engines. Thanks

I agree with ACES,,,,, first put some clear tubing on this thing to check for air. Just like he said the bends on the sending units are very noted for pin holes.

I wouldnt jump on changing sensors out just yet. Need to do somemore investagating first. No sense throwing money at parts that dont need changed yet. Unless you are a closet Millionaire :sifone::piggy:

It will contanimte your fuel, possibly ruin a 800$ IP . I wouldn't do that. Optical sensor replacement is not for the faint of heart. If the OS is bad I would recommend a reman IP.

Thought someone was jerking my chain about putting gallons of used trans. fluid in tank. He's not funny and lucky I'm not close enough to get hands on. I'm asking for help not dumb --- remarks. That reply was posted by packers905 ?? Thanks...

easiest place is the return line coming out of the ip a short 3-5" long piece is all you need. Also on the tranny fluid I have heard of it being used to help clean up the IP but definetly not used stuff

I thought he was asking if you had run used trans fluid, as in had it been done before and could cause your problems. People do a lot of weird things for free fuel sources without knowing the consequences. The truck will easily burn trasmission fluid, oil, jet fuel, kerosene, whatever, but they have consequences with the electronics and pumps.

Maybe so but it is ALOT easier to put it on the return. Then if no air you don't have to hassel with it anywhere else. Plus you can just leave it there.

We talked earlier this evening, I gave him some things to try 1st, looks like the original owner had OPS issues and "hot wired" to ignition, no "road test" of of LP/IP supply yet to check for plugged sock, but further discussion shows truck dies from 70 mph like mine was doing in my burb when my ABS module was causing a comms network loss and the PCM wasn't happy, his cruise control is not working either.

He's gonna be calling tomorrow I think after some trouble shooting, also we will be doing the 2000 rpm test to see if IP can support that.

Ordered new VSS sensor on transfer case. Pulled old sensor to inspect it and wrench magnetized to mounting bolt. Sensor was unplugged. Wrench still sticks to sensor after it was out. Its not supposed to be a magnet all time right? Does this mean something in circuit is locked and thats why trans wont shift into high or means sensor is bad? Thanks...

i know its a little late but did you ever get your truck fixed? it seems like every post i can see that my truck is acting like just stops with now end result… i keep getting 18 pump cam ref error and i just replaced my IP with a new not reman.. went through and did the timing with the software and set it to 1.87 tdco.. after reading this i am going to try the clear tubing trick… btw on my old IP i was getting pump cam ref error response time to long and short all back to back..

Hello everybody. Update from last post. Had mechanic install new injector pump and truck running like new. Now, new problem. Helped a buddy try and haul a small dozer he bought from salvage yard. Had his dual axel heavy duty trailer hooked to my 1 ton diesel. We hooked wench to dozer but it wouldnt move. It was out of gear. Buddy told me to pull forward little to move dozer. I told him should drop trailer then hook to dozer and move it but he said my truck should move dozer with trailer attached. When put truck in gear trans started making grinding noise. Put truck in park. I couldnt move dozer. Buddy said lets take trailer home and leave it . He would get his other buddy to look at dozer since he is dozer driver. After dropping his trailer I started to back up to go forward and trans started making grinding noise like before. Put truck in 4 wheel drive then into reverse and truck backed up like normal. Only way truck goes into reverse is in 4 wheel drive. When going down hwy truck runs fine until start to slow down and trans makes grinding noise again. When push on accelerator noise stops and truck runs fine. Buddy said he thinks trans linkage needs adjusting. Anyone have any ideas about this problem? Help please. Thanks
