I figured out the problem.
On the engine harness (under the intake manifold) the connector that the short IP harness plugs into... 1 of the 4 pins was burned. I cut the plugs off of the brand new IP harness and the engine harness then soldered/heat shrunk for a permanent connection.
For those...
New Stanadyne IP harness installed and the truck acts the same as before. I tried my really old PMD... a known bad one that has a mind of its own... and the truck started immediately! It ran rough for a few minutes then went wide open on its own. It got to about 5000rpm before I could shut it...
JMJNet I swapped the pmd with a known good one and it made no change. However I am now going to have to replace the IP harness because I read your comment and messed with it. The wires are brittle and the plastic around each wire will crack.
Prior to "messing up" my IP harness I made two 4 ga...
wiggle. The engine harness was replaced in 98 due to broken wires at the firewall. I had forgotten about that, and the issues were similar. Im also going to add ground cables from the ground stud on the back of the engine to the front of the intake manifold where the battery grounds are, and...
Hey guys sorry for the late reply. For fuel pressure at idle I have 8psi and the pump is powered by the Kennedy harness. ECM fuse looked good but I replaced it anyway. The grounds have been cleaned multiple upon multiple times. The PMD should be good as its a newer style Stanadyne on the Heath...
I have a 1995 vin f 6.5td, modifications in my signature. The codes I have are 19 21 22 23 25 26 27 29 34 35 36 63 64 65 84 88. The truck will start run and drive normally. But one time in 100 the truck will start normally, run for less than 10 seconds, and then turn off. It will start right...
I tried this earlier today. My truck sits at about 3900rpm in park with foot to the floor and makes no rev limiter noises. It just sounds like an engine turning 3900rpm... as if it were a gas motor just holding 3900rpm neutral free revving at part throttle.
I noticed a coolant leak under my truck the other day and got to looking. Its coming from the back edge of the water pump. I have never really had issues with the truck getting too terribly hot but a slight upgrade may be in order. I have looked at Advance Auto and they have a GMB(130-1830p) HO...
Well got my SSD marine injectors in and can say im happy for now. Truck starts super easy without glow plugs, and seems to make a bit more power. Now im going to upgrade the lift pump with either a Holley black or a PPE.
6 of the glow plugs, what I could get to without removing the turbo, have been changed. The old ones didnt look bad though. I have random missfires/pops/studder at idle and low rpm now which makes me believe the injectors are bad. Esp since the new injection pump, lines, ftb.
Thanks for the replies. For the price I probly will get these from SSdiesel. Orrum to answer your question... I just replaced the injection pump @118K miles with a brand new GM 2000 model pump. My truck now has 120K miles and is hard to start, white smoke for a bit after start up, and just plain...
As the title states. I was looking into getting marine injectors because my originals are beggining to fail. Are the ones from SS diesel supply any good or should I look elsewhere? Thanks in advance.
