    Turbos & intercooling

Anyone ever been to ANY truck pulls in Ohio knows of Studley Studebaker. It was like a 51 model with a 427 BB chevy. He had less $$ in his whole truck than most had in their paint jobs.It was always funny to watch him show up and win with a rig costing maybe 10% of what most others had invested.I...

    Turbos & intercooling

yes.it was a root style.I kinda miss that sound. On a alky motor, ours was overdriven at 28% I believe. On gas they had to run their blowers underdriven. That sound is addictive. Its just not a sport that a working man can afford. It took yrs and $$ to get it all figured out.Mech fuel inj is finicky...

    Turbos & intercooling

My parents spent my inheritance pulling a super mod 8200 lb alky truck for many years. We ran Mert Littlefields hi helix 3 lobe chargers on a 440 cid tall deck BB Chevy, alky of course.I learned that superchargers are like turbos, not one size fits all.Our hi helix made better avg numbers(boost...

    my 6.2 build up

not the best pics..I have seen a few crack right at the bolt. This motor had 212K and a odd noise for several thousand miles before I found this shaft cracked. The pic of the old style rocker shows how much heavier the old style is over the stamped...the wear on the bearing inside the rocker(yep,a...

    my 6.2 build up

You have what is considered one of the better blocks available. You also did well as the heads are late castings(same thread count as 6.5 turbo on the injectors and correct height also) you actually scored a turbo ready setup as those injectors wont hit the manifold on the pass side.I will snap a...

    my 6.2 build up

I strip all the ductile iron(cast) rockers out of early 6.2s and save them. They use a metal spring for alignment instead of nylon buttons, the shafts seem harder and much better design I feel.I will post a pic tonite of one.I stripped the stamped out and installed the cast ones in my 6.5.The old...

    my 6.2 build up

Date code info on rear of block behind where a distributor for a gasser is located.A series of 6 #s.The rockers are the later style stamped(after 87 I believe) One thing you MUST check before installing your new find..pull the rockers off shafts and check every sq inch of the shafts for...

    4.3 Diesel?????

The 5.7 wasnt as bad as everyone says.We had farmers that could drive them 200K,some folks couldnt get 50K.The farmers knew that dry, clean diesel was a must for their tractor fleet and usually filled their cars out of the same tank.In the 80s,diesel was bottom of the barrell stuff, far different...

    Post your Rig Or Recovery...

I asked our GM warranty rep why they put street tires on trucks,he stated it was emission regulations, that the truck was only allowed so many decibles on like a 2% grade at whatever mph(I forget details) hence the always restrictive air intakes systems installed at factory,to quiet them...

    6.5 Intake

On that other site, were they taliking about using 6.2 to replace a 6.5?I think I read it and they were referring to the non turbo military intake

    Simple Question for all

1993 2500 4wd 226,000 miles 3:42s and I forget tires with a 4l80. Gets 19-21 with a pickup bed full of stuff that should have been thrown away a long time ago.....

Another broken crankshaft - I'm gonna cry.

I better post before power goes out again...Its probably too far adv if EGT is low under load. Those covers recieve their reference mark(indexed) at factory for each motor as TDC stackup is measured.White smoke, high egt is retarded......grey,hard start and a slightly rumpy idle is too far...

    Your favorite hot rod.

70 Olds W-30,390 horse with a 4 speed of course. Our high school rides in our little group was the 70 w-30,69 GT 500 Shelby,70 302 Boss (built by Buffs in Cali) We destroyed what would be an excellent retirement fund now.The Olds hit 3 parked cars in 1982,still remnants in my barn, the Shelby went...

    4.3 Diesel?????

They made the 4.3 v-6 diesel until 1989,but were used in the ft wheel drive Cutlass Ciera ect.Never offered in a truck. They were ok little motors, but not many out there if you need parts ect.By the way, that seller is an idiot.

    Batteries, batteries batteries

I also notice that some batts (military) are rated at how fast they can deliver their current and sustain a certain voltage while doing it.I notice with the 6UTLs that they dont give a grunt and then roll, they are instantly fast and sustain it untill startup. When in series (24 volt in the 6x6s)...

    Lift Pump - wont run.

It will only run when oil pressure is @ 4lbs and above.Mine would work until the switch got warm and would quit.During cranking, your switch allowed it to power up.Is it quitting while the engine is running?

    Batteries, batteries batteries

I have ran the Optima. My experience with them has been not so good.I will stick with Dekka,as many of the military trucks I buy have them. Some of them sit for over 1 yr while going thru the process of leaving service and still crank right up(both the 12 and 24 volt systems) It may be...
