    Installed my Raptor today.

It varies, 5-8 psi is considered normal. How loud is the Raptor? Fass'es are louder than the engines they fuel.

what blocks to stay away from

92-94 are all 599's. 95 is a 929 is identical to the 599. 96 is a 141 has the casting on the back for a rear mounted turbo, not always tapped or used, no sprayers. 1997-1998, pretty much a scary block, roll the dice kind of thing. I know a builder that has a stock pile of these because they...

    ARP headstud torque specs?

Head studs leak, probably. Be carefull with the ARP studs. These are leaking bastards, seriously. The ARP sealant is a joke, doesn't do the job long-term, you'll get one or a few start leaking. If you run head studs you want to check your CDR breather for goo frequently as that will be...

    Project 350HP update

All I can say is, I hate snow. I don't know how any one likes this crap. Snowed in, can't even drive a truck anywhere. My only mode of transportation is a Honda 4Wheeler, been that way for 3 days now. Boredome has set in hard core.

    Project 350HP update

No Dyno run. No Run for me, weather wasn't as predicted for the week (thank you meteorologist). Too cold and nasty. Shooting for this next weekend, I gotta do some repair now too as the alternator decided to fail.

    What are these blocks worth?

Depends, the block with the spun bearing you'll need to find out if it's a main or a rod bearing. Rod bearing = replace the crankshaft, not a big deal. Main bearing = align bore and hone, big deal, kinda expensive. But, if the blocks not cracked on the mains, worth keeping either way. The...

What would you still consider a 6.5?

I agree with this guy :iagree:

    Manual Glow Plug Override How-To

IIRC, won't the PCM set a code if it knows that the glow plugs are on when being used with the factory glow controller? Seems that I remember that it would set code, as if the controller had failed and was keeping the glow plugs on.

    Project 350HP update

There is still a significant difference between a 19:1 and a true 18:1 in starting abilility. The 19:1 is about the perfect ratio for a daily driver higher boosted 6.5 though. Extended glow time would also be smart. I'm simply running 1982 Glow Plug original equipment controller (cigar style...

    Project 350HP update

Heck, I'll bite, my dyno run on the '82 is scheduled for next weekend December 12th, pending good weather. I prefer a dyno run with temperature in the 60's or close. 18:1 engines don't really like starting in the cold and some one didn't opt for the block heater option when building the engine...

    Verdict is in, 6.5 n/a pump on a 6.2 n/a works fine.

3.08 gears and pulling on the highway are a no-no. Glad to hear the engine is performing well, most n/a 6.5 pumps are set for 170 HP. As long as you've increased the airflow to the engine it should be fine. The only disadvantage is MOST 6.5n/a pumps are set at 3600 RPM shutoff, which doesn't...

    Splayed Mains......

They don't weaken the block. They actually tie to a place on the block that has substantially more meat. The majority of the load on the caps side to side is the outside bolt holes, which take a beating on one of these engines. The splayed caps counter that force, part of the reason why the...

Injector accel pump arm came off-still ok?

The 5209 number is all you need... Don't ya know, you do the hard side first, then save the cake work for last when you're already done and frustrated. I know what you're working on, I've done some work on an 83 G20 6.2L. I'm thinking of actually buying one, this one's gotta popper top.

    crossover debate

Very interested in seeing what it takes to make these pumps flow more evenly. I don't like the idea of having to adapt a waterpump onto the engine that has the thread-on fan clutch. I've got a Kennedy fan clutch that works great and can engage when the engine is steadily running 2400RPM. The...

Lurking... Seems to be some genuine content here.

Thanks for the warm welcome! I'll have to stick around, good to see good progress being made on the 6.5TD, as that's my poison of choice.

Lurking... Seems to be some genuine content here.

Just thought I'd share some of my opinions and observations here on this forum. Haven't had an account here long, I haven't used the account much because I'm steadily on the Diesel Page forums. Anyways, looking for someplace to hang out where I can contribute where the information already...
