No need to weld. I have put many on with broken tab. Just use a large washer. The plastic tabs are to hold the gasket in place. There are small holes in the head that they will snap into. No need to drain if you use a swivel to get to the bolts. No thread locker.

This is in another thread as well but myself and many of my customers have gone months. 6+ its usually not until you can't leave water bottles in the truck cause they freeze that the pump gets done.

I have fixed 4 of them. The motor is about $12. It's easy. I'm YouTube trained and certified lol. Even if you have to go buy a soldiering iron total coat is like $25

Well when it happen, it stopped running and I had to tow it home. It wouldn't turn over. The next day it started up and drove in the garage.

The ignition switch is known to go bad. The trans also gets its power from the ignition switch. I would start there.

I have a a couple like this. One had a bad ignition switch the other had a broken wire at the round connector on the side of the trans. It was the yellow wire that provides power to the solenoids. I Googled 4l80e shift problems and found a wire diagram and test procedure for everything in the...
Imagine that. The symptoms all pointed to a pmd. Thats why people asked if a known good pmd was tried. Goes to show you, you can never trust the pmd, even a new one.
I have 5 6.5s in my fleet and each has a spare pmd in the drivers door pocket.
