On my '84 6.2 diesel, the vacuum pump (diaphram) went out. The pump has a switch/solenoid? on the body. Are the actual diaphrams (two bolts mounted) interchangeable? How necessary is the solenoid/switch? What is it for anyways? The GM dealers/O'riellys etc. dont carry it, here, anyway.
Thanks...
Actually, if you install intake manifold gaskets for the hd engine, (the one with vacuum reg mounted on the governer), the 'crossover' is effectivly closed off, if & when the egr valve opens, there is no exhaust gas to recirculate. (disconnect & plug the line to the b-fly valve in the exhaust...
I've re-installed them a few times, sometimes, the fix is short-lived, last one tho, was 2-3 years ago.
Anyways, I wanted to mention, before cleaning the area, while you can still see where it was mounted, mark on the outside of the windshield with a felt pen, that location, it aids in (almost)...
Company I used to work for had a Koehring 666 excavator with a 6 v 71 engine. Used to put in 10 gallons of gasoline (in a 100 +- gallon tank). Was noticeably more powerful, not good, I'm sure tho.
(anyone remember them? Air over hydraulic 'thumb buttons', park one track to turn, modern, man.)

I have a backpack sprayer from Harbor Freight, When using it, I give a squirt of dish soap in the top of the pump, then procede as usual. When done, I rinse it out etc. & put it away.

Its been my experience that the ones that are the most PITA are the ones that go out first.
I took a diesel class in 1998 or '99 at the local jr college. A marine from the motor pool (I live close to Camp Pendelton Marine Base), took the class 'cause he said all they did at the motor pool was...
If its returning a LOT of fuel, that fuel is bypassing the needle in nozzle body. The governer really shouldnt be an issue here. I would think the problem is in the nozzle(s).

My '84 6.2 Blazer with the Turbo 400 has recently begun to not wanting to upshift when cold. Yesterday, I thought the motor was gonna explode before it finally shifted. As soon as it gets a little warmed up, it is no longer an issue.
Originally, it had a 700 r4, but the previous owner (he...
My 6.2 Blazer ('84) had been hard starting for years. I replaced the batteries a month ago & it starts literally like brand new. I was truly amazed.

I replaced the radiator in my '84 Blazer 6.2 & since then the low coolant light sporadically comes on, hot & cold engine. (level is not low) The new radiator is aluminium with plastic resevoirs on the ends (where the sensor screws in) I replaced the sensor, but this didnt cure anything. The...
I used to work for a company that had a bunch of equipment with various dee-troit engines in 'em. Had some 'Koehring' excavators, (a 455 & a 666, yeah, a long time ago), & a bunch of navy surplus 'Grove' cranes with 2 & 3 cyl deets. Refered to them as 'yammers' as in 2 cycle yamahas. Anyway...
Well, I got the starting issue fixed.
The batteries are 100 months & about a week old, warrantee is 100 months, my luck.
The vehicle seemed to be cranking just a lil bit slower than normal. Last saturday I went to a wedding & after the reception, (late sat nite) the beast almost didnt want to...
