A vag-com that will work with the common rail TDI's runs $250 from Ross Tech. You only need the micro-can model for that car... there's so much you can do with it programming wise, but you can also cause some damage if you're not careful from what I've read. I really should get one.

^^What Mike said.
BTW the glow plugs operate off of 4.7(?) volts... you will not see 12v at the glow plugs. I believe they are PWM also, so a standard voltmeter may or may not work properly.
I did my 20k maint last weekend... non VW approved oil and all. Warranty be damned.
Oil, fuel filter, air filter and cabin filter changed. The fuel filter is kind of a bad design, it basically sits inside a cup and the pickup sucks it out the center of the filter. Makes a mess to change because...
I agree... kind of like fuel additives that claim to add 20% more energy to the fuel.
The only way to keep it clean(er) is to stop the engine from generating as much soot to begin with. Less soot = less accumulated ash from regenerations over time = longer DPF life. I don't think any additive...
Hand tight only... loosen it from up top, go down below, pull the lower corner of the fender liner by the AC drain back, reach in, unscrew it the rest of the way and it always came right out. Put it back on the same way after applying some Parker o-ring lube to the rubber parts.

The heat kills the passenger side battery sitting back there against the firewall. Mine leaked and made a mess twice in the 5 years I had it...there's still a rust spot in the driveway from the leaks.
I replaced the tray, neutralized the acid and coated any of the metal that it had gotten on...
I can't believe your OEM batts lasted that long. Mine went through 2 passenger side and 1 driver side batteries in the 5 years I had it. The pass side leaked because of the heat.
Certain rpms have a nice throaty rumble and it's wicked loud at WOT, but it sounds more like a pissed off vacuum with no cat because of the turbo. At idle, all you will hear is a hiss like air pressure escaping from a leaky valve. It actually sounds pretty good though.
The cat provides the backpressure so that the EGR can force exhaust gasses back into the intake. SOME trucks will throw EGR codes with the cat off because the flow will be insufficient... mine never did and chances are likely that yours won't either.
About the only benefit you'll see with the...
That's all I used in my 06. The few UOA's I did with it were always excellent @ 5,000... viscosity was good and TBN was still in the 5 range.
Bonus- it's a WalMart oil that goes on sale from time to time.
I ran 10w30 in my 01 2500HD a couple of times and it definitely made the cold start piston slap last longer. Still did it with 5W30, but it stopped quickly.
It's plain Jane Delvac 1 for big trucks.

Looks like they added the ESP (emission system protection) label to it recently to indicate that it's compatible with dpf/doc systems on newer...
