The other thing to realize is that the LP can barely work - due to component wear, restrictions, etc - and the truck will still run (the IP will 'suck' fuel, to a point).
In cases where the truck is trying to get more fuel than what the LP can provide, you start getting power loss, stalling...
Do any of you guys know if your airbags work?
Before they go off, that is?
The only way to be sure is to test them. And then you have to replace them. And then you can't be sure that the new ones work!
The idiot light PCM circuitry tells you that something is flaky, and that is all. Could...
I remember having sealed-beam BFHs ... Rocks, gravel roads, burned filaments, and driving a one-eyed Nova home late one stormy night, when that one failed, too.
People who reminisce about the 'Good Old Days' conveniently forget stuff like that. :D
Love it, Red. That there is one Highly-Adaptable Rig, and like Mike, I am waiting anxiously to see what y'all come up with!

17 and 18 are optical sensor codes. They can be set off by a ground issue, as mentioned; usually happens when the little ground wire is removed from the IP. It's normally on the PMD harness, but some people remove it when they remote the PMD. Not a good idea, it increases the timing length...
They did. It's called a Duramax :hihi:
Seriously, we've all had this issue since 1994. Somebody even tried to design a new PMD. The only cure has been Bills PMD Isolator, and now there are derivatives.
This issue has kept Steaksauce and Laurence J Kaplan alive for a decade.
Might just be PMD ... Don't assume IP first. Water ca. Restart a PMD too.
in either case, your days are numbered. Order yourself a PMD remote kit from Leroy
Just make sure of your IP model first. It's on a tag bolted to the pump; you will alcohol need the number off tour existing PROM chip. Bill will help you get what you need.
Troubleshoot... methodically.
First, get a battery charger on the girl because all this cranking will wear the batts down.
Diesels need Air, Compression, and Fuel (at the right time) to run. How about we check the fuel first, 'cause I'm betting if the other two were fine a minute ago, they're...
You most likely need a new PMD. Your accelerator pedal could be a problem, as could the optic bump - who did that, by the way? It is usually used to compensate for a stretched timing chain, and is a controversial modification.
Anyway. Runaways caused by PMD failure are fairly common.
