Got the timing pretty good now. It's either the 3500 psi pop injectors,or the .040 shaved pistons plus .010 over gaskets, thats delaying idle ignition timing. The pump internal advance is all the way maxed at idle, and the ip is advanced alittle past the line. So it has a ton of injection advance...
Well it makes 28 to 30 psi boost. The timing needs some fiddling with . The lowered compression, combined with a big intercooler makes the idle timing a bit complicated. I'm going to have to bump up the idle speed . Also the clutch slips , ceramic, but stock pressure plate.
Well we drove it a few miles. Makes 20 psi boost ,prob will do a bit more, but kept blowing off intercooler boots. Has a bit to much timing at part throttle , and hazes a tiny bit at idle. It has a nice exhaust sound also.
I had the ip advanced 1/4 inch past the line, now with more charge psi ,the internal advance moves farther. This eliminates the need to have the ip past the line.
Swapped the charge pump regulator with a previously modded one. I also upgraded the spring. Now It has 85 psi at idle ,and max psi of 125. This advanced the timing enough to enamble the ip to be at the line.
Finally started this motor in the truck. It ran fine for a bit ,then dropped a cyl. When cracking the lines, barely any fuel at #2 cyl. The little fuel that came out was foamy. Can anyone guess what caused this ?
It's a 99 k3500. We are pulling the cab, so we might do a small body lift. Or slide the cab back, like one inch? It's also getting a custom flat bed ,which could be mounted slightly rearwards also.
