I got some training in my aircraft mechanic training. Really enjoy fabbing stuff up like that, but as you say it takes steady use to keep the rust off of the skill. I may have an opportunity to refurbish an old 1940's tube and fabric Aeronaca Champ that needs a good bit of TIG welding to replace...
Thanks..... it has held up to all that I have thrown on it. But some of its good looks are due to poor image quality. I am still not an expert welder and this was one of my first welding projects back in my senior year of HS...... So if you look too closely.................
Still have dreams...
Looks like all the pictures that I took while building it are back home in Texas on my dad's computer............ here are a couple I found of it though....
I know that the parking brake light on with transmission stuck in 2nd commonly go together. When I had that problem it was a bad electrical connection in a plug down by the transmission / front axle.
Finally get to give a good update! I got a fuel leak stopped at the fuel sender, so now I can fill the tank all the way up without it sloshing out over the top. So I am starting to get some fuel mileage numbers. So far it looks like 13-14 in town and 21 on the highway. Also made some good...
In my tahoe diesel conversion I found out that the sending unit for a diesel tank is a different diameter than the gas tank so a gasser tank will not work. That was comparing a 96 tahoe gas tank to a 96 C1500 diesel tank.
The gas tanks have the in tank pump....therefore the whole is bigger.
Not much update... Things are crazy at work and it gets dark by the time I get home. Don't have a garage to work in so I am not man enough to work on it in the dark and cold. Just driving my truck currently.
Basically it runs pretty well, just not happy with the shifting yet, and I need to...
Quick update.......been pretty busy but have been able to work out a few bugs here and there. Am still having a bit of a time getting the USShift to always shift the way I want it to..... the torque converter comes in pretty hard at light throttle. Really need to get some time during the day and...
Welcome!
Is the one on top the fuel bleed valve? If they are lines the shop had off for changing the pump you aught to be able to get them to make it right....
Have any pictures of the lines that aren't connected? If you can get some pictures that would be great to help identify...
Is it a DB2 IP? if so that tab is supposed to hold the plunger and spring in that EWC asked about. Don't think the DS4 has the plunger so if it is in the way you could probably bend the tab back a little bit.
It was Rockauto............mailed the core in a month ago or so............
So I pulled the rod out of my truck and got it working. That was the last thing I needed to do before I drove it so I just got in from the first test drive!!! Runs pretty well. Have a lot to figure out about the USShift...
found the problem........... apparently there is a piston/rod that goes in between the hydroboost and the master cylinder. The new hydroboost apparently did not come with it, and I did not remove it from the old one when I sent it in for a core...................... talk about frustrating.
Got the drive shaft in.....about $170 with new u-joints.
Had trouble getting the brakes to bleed. The pedal always went to the floor, never really pumped any fluid out that I could tell, so I may have a bad master cylinder. Also after pushing the pedal down with the bleed port open, then...
Found a shop that will cut it and balance it for about $100 so I think I will go that route.
Have a little problem with the RPM input for the USShift. I am using an early 90's style sensor that goes in the oil pump drive. In the settings I set custom, because all the other options had to do...
You let a project take 7-8 months, and as deejaa said mice or squirrels.
I assume the muffler was pretty full..... it ran fine after it blew it out, but I may still have trouble when I get on the road............ may have to get a new muffler.................
