Not quite finished but running. Have a little drip at the quick connect heater hose and need to drain water and put coolant in it (rinsing it out on start up with just water). I just finished: New HO water pump, Duramax fan and new fan clutch, timing gears, Fluidamper harmonic balancer...
Ok, I'm down to pulling the HB and front cover but am I at TDC or BDC?
I am trying to follow the directions written by Scott Boelman on THEDIESELPAGE - "Phaser Dual-Idler 6.5L Gear Drive Timing Set" . I was a member for a while and feel its ok and seems to be accessible from the open web.
Are...
Who is the best dealer nearby (maybe not for you but would help resale). Budget is the biggest issue. I consider older than ~1975 8Fx2R transmissions pasture type tractors good for mowing and scraping fast (if you go that old get one with power steering). A little newer with more gears is...
So this ran away on just added oil from the Turbo?
Or did it run away on diesel+ oil + Nitrous (they mentioned they were on spray)? Was there a kill switch for the diesel but it did not work? Did it run out of fuel to shut off or did the oil from the turbo quit? They mentioned the belt...
Did it chafe through from vibration? I had that happen with my first set of oil cooler lines. It didn't even look that bad on the outside. It's like chafing vibration can sorta penetrate a hose internally too. Maybe a steel braid pin holed mine they were the stiff high temp stainless steel...
It's just a possibility. I had a loose wire in my trailer plug that back fed through my reverse lights and caused me a problem (the truck did not cut off with key off). The frame is basically a big busbar and there are several shared nodes in different wiring circuits.
What it sounds like...
If you try to probe the pigtail for those lights use an actual bulb to draw current with the headlights on (get the same bulb and makeup "jumpers" or test wires). It sounds like there is a connection that is marginal. It works with low current but with high current of all the lights it has...
See what my wife does. She drove it down to 1 mile left on the computer range! To make me feel better she said she was actually worried this time. I am waiting on the day I have to take her gas. But since I ran out first what can I say except she should know better.
Welcome. Nice trucks.
How do you like the Gear Vendor? Do you split gears or just use for overdrive?
When slowing down with the GV what is it like? Do you down shift it before it drops down and how much of a clunk is it? If you forget to downshift it will it clunk worse or about the same?
Welcome to the club. Everyone needs to run out at least 1 time to be humbled.
I ran out once in a different family car never looked at fuel gauge (since I normally fuelled up my truck on a certain day each week just did not think about it). Never even saw the warning light.
It kills me my...
It’s gotten a little better on its own. I had run some heavy doses of power service thru tank so suspect it’s IP and engine mount combo mostly.
I have a few projects I have to finish before I work on the truck.
I haven’t quite decided if I want to just pull the engine and shotgun it or do...
Do they make a pedal commander for the 6.5 ?
Don’t know if anything could be altered in PCM fueling map to work with pedal commander so you have a variable tune.????
I hear it but don't know. Post up any changes as it presents more. My truck is getting so ratty I'd just have to turn my radio up for that until I could figure it out better. Or I'd like to say that. Those kind of things will bug me.
Does it do it worse going uphill, heavy acceleration, downhill, light acceleration or any combination of those?
Maybe a test would be to set the parking brake and launch to see if the engine is torquing over some from a worn bushing?
Is the fan wobbly and noise is covered up with speed or it...
Did the guy in the video say 35,000 lb trailer weight?
Looks to have an ear on the right side in front of the PTO mid way to starter and bellhousing. Is it going to have more than 3 points of mounting for the drivetrain? Do the newer trucks already have more than 3 points (being 2 motor...
