If I were breaking in an engine I personally didn't build/blueprint myself, I'd be a little leary as well.
There is no RULE per-se, but if the clearances are right, there is really little reason to baby the thing, -as like MGW stated, roller cam, moly rings, etc.
The initial oil changes...
Dan, mine did the same thing here a while back. Try sticking a paperclip into the pressure switch plug and see if that gets the clutch to work. If it does, then the system likely needs a little shot to get it back up and running.
Just go buy the 134A stuff and do it, -piece of cake.
Yep, good tip TD, :iagree:I've been doing this for years, -and yes, what a huge difference hot water makes.
I use a 25 foot air-rated hose (300 psi) and have an adapter I made up with brass parts from the plumbing section at depot. My adapter screws directly to the hose-bib and has a brass QD...
So you sometimes run red fuel? I wonder if your optic sensor in the IP is clouded up?
You need to make absolutely sure your lift pump is working and that you have an adequate supply of fuel at the IP.
Ensuring the IP has a good supply of fuel is the first step to diagnosing. Like a couple...
By the sounds of what you describe, the timing is too late. I am assuming it is hittin' on all 8.
The exhaust should be clean, and late timing will cause what you describe.
Try giving it a touch of advance, the exhaust should clean up. If not, then you may have injector issues, but I kinda...
Sven, the fab work looks incredible.
Your truck is SPOTLESS!! I am very impressed!!!
I'll bet you turn plenty of heads with that rig over there!!
For the aluminum stuff, glass beading at low pressure with new beads and clearcoating is the best choice.
Second choice for me has always been Castrol Superclean and a scrub brush.
Last option (and more risky) is oven cleaner (works good but is extremely corrosive). The surfaces of the...
Robyn, -you gotta be on cloud nine right now, -good deal!!
Like when Hannibal from the A-Team says "I love it when a plan comes together" with the cigar hangin outta his mouth.
That new crank is going to give you some much needed piece of mind.
The heads, -well, they're CCH's, -and...
That's a nice looking setup, -I need to do something with mine before the summer temps get here.
I like how one of the first questions asked was "how much turbo whistle did you lose?" ):h
We're a sick bunch, -I think it's great!! :grouphug:
You know, this was the EXACT question I asked one of the guys who works here at the local GM medium duty truck shop (lots of 6.2/6.5 work going through their shop).
The "indirect" answer I got was no, that they are not TTY on the mains, -but then and again, -WHY the funky TTY torque...
My intermittent "thunk" turned out to be one of my fuel tank straps being loose.
My buddies 89 gasser had the same problem, -he's the one that gave me the hint, -and it turned out to be what it was.
Whether you go dual-stat, -or decide to stay with single, -the HV 4.5" trim pump is definitely what you are after.
I love my duals, -but that's just me.
I'm famous for not going with the grain, -dual stats it is.
Never a problem, -thing never goes above 185, -even whippin' it...
I know what jifaire and TD are saying.
In 99.9% of the cases, a functioning CDR is favored over an atmospherically-vented setup.
Admittedly, if not done properly, a atmospheric-vented setup can (and will get) messy over time.
The CDR and associated plumbing takes care of the mess, it...
Ok, as seems to be the case lately, I'll go against the grain and admit that my CDR vents to atmosphere.
24 PSI of boost on a 19:1 motor. No oil leaks, no oil consumption.
Now, the engine is fresh, -I will admit that.
I am not saying that the way I do things is right, -or that it should...
Any parts store pump spec'd for a 1997 should fit the bill nicely.
Should be no issues with a single-stat setup.
Water pump in '97+ uses a 4.50" trim impeller, previous pumps use a 4.25" trim (hence 85/130 flowrates)
Fan pattern was same as old pattern in 97, -should be bolt for bolt...
Damn, I'm 40 now too, -officially over the hill. I still haven't figured out what I wanna be when I grow up.
Maybe there IS something wrong with me? ):h
To be honest, there are a few occasions where I do miss it, -but since my truck is primarily used around town 99% of the time, -I've...
Aces, aces, aces........... ):h
Surely us DB "rebels" have taken cruise control into account and pretty much deemed it WORTHLESS in exchange for having a ONE WIRE injection system. :D
I'm just jabbin' ya man.
Us DB guys are just too simple minded I guess. We can do without...
