    BOOM!

So, after reading part one, -you probably think I'm writing some sort of a fiction novel, -I wish that were the case. So, after the rag incident, the engine comes back out and gets torn down. The damage report, -a cracked cylinder wall in #5, -literally from top to bottom. A bent #5 intake...

    BOOM!

Ok, I found it, -I copied and pasted, because I don't know how to link to it. Here is part one of two..... This is sort of a long one... Well, as some of you may know, I began a project over a year and a half ago when I lost a headgasket on my '94. It began with cracked heads, then...

Let me try to find the thread, -I figured someone would ask! See what ya started Tim?? :hihi:

    BOOM!

Oh buddy, -I will never forget that night, -talk about blatant stupidity on my part. I should be locked up and put behind bars for ruining a perfectly good 506 block!! At least if it would have broke when I was running the snot out of it, -that would have been a little different. One thing is...

    BOOM!

Oh no, I was totally agreeing. I have a "wall of shame" -so to speak, -it is the top of my tool box. I have broken rods, pistons with rings stacked on top of themselves in the same groove, a broken wrist pin, a cam that came out of an engine in 5 pieces, -but no broken cranks though, -I have...

    BOOM!

Well, -no matter what opinions and accusations are flying around this thread, I have HUGE respect for what you're doing, -and do you want to know WHY??? -Because you are sharing the results and information, -you are acquiring with other fellow sixfivers. You see, I have this redneck friend of...

    New Battery experiences please share

Kenny, -what exactly are those things?? Are those Deka's? Do tell!! Deka makes the batt's in our electric forklift at work, -they are super reliable, -(of course our shop is heated, so they never see below 60F). Sometimes the guys run the damn thing into the ground, -barely able to move. I...

    New Battery experiences please share

Yep, Johnson Controls makes some good stuff, -Exide does as well. True story about mediocre connections, -they never do any good at all. I have ALWAYS had excellent luck with the Sears Die Hard Gold's, -I used to use them on some of the crawlers and backhoes when I was doing equipment...

    New Battery experiences please share

Very well said, -and I couldn't agree more. It always seems like as soon as the summer heat come around, -batteries that are on their last leg seem to give up the ghost. Same with deep cycling or not being used (a rig that sits and is used infrequently). I also killed batteries more frequently...

Thumping intake, stalling, driveability issues, HELP!

Exactly what I was thinking too. If you have a dead valve, -you have a dead cylinder.....

Thumping intake, stalling, driveability issues, HELP!

Mine occasionally makes that thumping noise in the intake when it fires up. It's been doing that off and on now for over two years. No broken parts or anything like that, -no misfiring either, -hits on all 8 when it does it, -doesn't matter if it's hot or cold -then disappears as soon as the...

    No start then it started???

I would do a simple test before you start replacing things. Do a voltage test on the fuel shutoff solenoid on your injection pump. The DS4 injection pump is "energize to run" -meaning voltage present at the solenoid = main fuel shutoff valve open, -unless you have a faulty solenoid valve of...

    I'm baaack! A 6.5 UPDATE!!

Thanks for the warm welcome back guys. I've been a little disconnected, -they started monitoring internet at work, -and the kids usually have the computer at home tied up with homework projects. School nowadays is a lot stranger that when I was a kid. Anyway, -I don't know a lot about DB2's...

    I'm baaack! A 6.5 UPDATE!!

Some of you may remember me. I've been off the forum for awhile. My 6.5 has been running without too many issues. I still lose about a cup of coolant a week, -not sure where the leak is. The oil level doesn't really change, -most of it steams-off I'm sure, but the oil definitely gets skunked...

Looking at a 6.5L truck, any input on it?

Oh yes, they sure can. The 400+ pounds of torque and a left foot that sometimes "slips" off the clutch pedal......:hihi: The grenaded factory needle pilot bearings don't help them last any longer either..... My friend with the hopped-up 16:1 engine broke a 4500 into bits. Of course, he's...

    A Coal Blower...Merry Xmas Me!

Isn't that custom bent factory pipe a masterpiece of engineering? Wow... I'm running a Diamond Eye kit on mine, -which uses a 3" downpipe into a 4" out the back. I'm not sure if the kit will clear your A/C stuff though. Just search Diamond Eye, -or maybe someone else can chime in.

I haven't had the best success with the red top optima's either. I killed two of them in my old truck, -they warranted it once but said they wouldn't do it twice. I have had good luck with the Autozone batteries too, -but never tried 'em on the 6.5.... When I bought my 6.5 truck, -one battery...

    CowBoy Caddilac Dead Again

Looks like there was just a touch of "edge-riding" on those bearings as a result of the crank throw not being supported and wallowing around in the big-ends of the rods. The good news is that the sides of the rods look pretty good. I would say you're probably ok..
