I can't stand how all the newer cab lights have that 3-in-1 center piece. A couple weeks ago David (88gmctruck) and I put GMT-400 lights on my '83. Loooooks so good.
Anyone wants GM part numbers for stuff, lemme know, I am playing with the 2011 version of the parts catalog. ;)
Some other articles I read about it.
About the engine.
About the Cruze.
I agree with a lot of the sentiment here, why the limited options? Why cut corners when introducing a new product to US consumers? I do appreciate the re-introduction of diesel into the GM CAR market, it is long overdue.
AFAIK it is referred to as a DIN 3405 fitting. Look like the bottom-right most picture in this document? http://www.als-info.com/documents/Page38_39.pdf
Great info Ferm, just one question? I thought the Ram got the NV5600 in late 1998? I was under the impression that there was a rare-as-hen's-teeth configuration in 1998 with a P-pumped 12-Valve and the NV5600.
I enjoy learning about the new GM drivetrains, I am glad you share such knowledge...
All gaskets/seals but head gaskets done. I was not allowed to pull the critical parts (i.e. pistons for rings)
Replaced oil pump, water pump, couple glow plugs, fuel lines to/from filter & IP. Cleaned the crap outta everything, painted it... Back in, waiting on oil cooler lines and the two...
Ok, with so little left to do, we pulled the motor. Now I can go all the way around it. Going to re-seal: front cover, oil pan, fuel pump block-off, oil pump drive/tach thingy (WTH is that thing called?), FR/RR main seals, valve covers... What else should I do with the motor out and on a stand?
Tool recommendation, S-K or Snap-On. I can look at Brandon's (07HDClassic) in a couple days, but I would definitely make sure GM didn't sneak a Torx PLUS fastener in there.
I know GM has moved to those in a couple of applications and you will go through regular torx like a fiend and do...
I know some end play is normal, I see it almost everyday at work when I process RWD vehicles. Have you measured it? I read 1/8" in your post, is that measured? That seems a LITTLE high but I know there is some wiggle room in those semi-float axles. My 9.5" 14 bolt with 500,000+ miles has...
Yeah, I have wiring figured out, I've got the pigtail off of the '95 truck, going to wire the '93 truck to the new style. Thank you Leroy.
I haven't zipped the flexplate off yet, does the seal slip off over the crankshaft? I can't visualize what the back of the engine looks like. :/
I am tinkering on my boss' new (to him) 1993 Chevrolet Cheyenne K2500. It has 170k miles on a 6.2L N/A, 4L80-E, NP241. It runs GREAT, it starts right up as soon as the Glow light goes out, it is an ex-Fire Dept. truck and seems to have seen regular maintenance. Reverse is out in the...
I need to swap the shift shaft out on a 4L80-E, and to remove the retaining pin the plate under the valvebody has to be lifted...meaning I lift the valvebody.
If I have the transmission perfectly upside down, blocked, with the valvebody on top, can I lift it off, do what I need to do to the...
Allison filter is all I used...
Dexron VI is factory fill, I'd top off with that or do a flush fill with Allison Transynd or Amsoil Torque-Drive.
Transfer case is updated from the earlier electric shift ones. Ditch the factory fill (ATF, or close to it.) and run a fully synthetic 5W-30 (I...
Howdy,
My boss is looking at getting a 1993 K2500 6.5/4L80-E and the transmission is bad. We have a Goodwrench Reman 4L80-E with low miles that was removed from a 1995 K3500 6.5 truck.
I have read that there are possible valve body mods &/or changes that need to be made to the harness...I...
