You can get a new (longer) line without the timing adapter from Peninsular.
I have heard they can leak, can't really say if they are a problem or not.
I bought a new line from Peninsular.
If you order one from the dealer, it will be the short line for use with the adapter.
I bought a DSG gear drive and ran it for a while. I must say, I was less than impressed by it. First, the quality and installation procedures seemed rather crude. I didn't notice any performance improvement, but it did make more noise. After about 500 miles, I removed it and went back to a...
How important? Depends on what you are after. If you want the smoothest possible engine, then yes its important. How difficult? Without specialized equipment you can't do it. So its basically taking everything to the machine shop and paying them to do it.
Weighing a rod with a...
I really don't know, it somehow connected to a timing meter. As I said, I have never seen one or known of a shop that had one. Maybe the dealers had them back in the 80s or early 90s.
Most (all) 6.5 trucks that came with a DB2 did use the timing adapter on #1, but non adapter lines are available. Peninsular has them. BTW, the military NA 6.5 I got did not have the adapter line for #1, its like the rest. FWIW I have never found a shop or dealer that had the equipment to use...
The one I have is for the 4 V belt pulley. I haven't looked at it lately, but I think the fan clutch has a different bolt circle than the regular serp pulley so you would need the pulley made for this clutch. It looks to be the same clutch for both pulleys, so I guess rotation doesn't matter?
Bought one last October from my local dealer. GM list then was over $39, I get a little discount. I have noticed GM has really gone up on a lot of little parts like this in the last year or so. I think some stuff has doubled.
The wires to the radio are a convenient place to get dash light and/or switched power. If you want to tap the fuse box, I have used these Buss Add-A-Fuse gizmos. They work very well and allow you a dedicated fuse for what you are adding. Most of the chain auto parts stores have them, you...
Peninsular take off spin on type water pump $65
Hayden Truck duty fan clutch $110 (Summit)
New Duramax fan $75
You are at maybe $300 with shipping and a thermostat.
You just gotta shop around and make your own setup.
Yes, that is correct. I'm running this setup on my Suburban. Spin on water pump, 2886 Hayden clutch with 15010202 Duramax fan.
Its the Kodiak with the Duramax engine. I think they list it as 6.6L Diesel.
That is why I went with a Hayden "Truck Fan Drive". It has the same specs as far as temp on and off, turns at 80-90% when engaged and 20-30% when disengaged. However, it has 150 square inches of land and groove working area vs. only 72 square inches on the Severe Duty. According to Hayden, it...
So what do we have to do to get a DB2 Conversion forum? Then we need someone to make a box to allow the PCM to work with the DB2 TPS sensor. That would take most of the hassle out of converting
If you are keeping the CS-130, I would buy from an alternator shop. Have them build up an alternator to your specs, using quality components. There is a guy local here I could get one from, but since you don't have core, you are probably talking $200 or so, plus shipping. Since you are in...
Grace makes at least 5 different underlayments. Ice and Water contains rubberized asphalt, while Ultra is butyl rubber based. A while back I looked into Dynamat and while they make several different products, the main Dynamat is also butyl based. We had to special order the Ultra, it was...
