    Nice!

What did you do with your GMT400 today...or yesterday....

I just eliminated everything the factory put on the truck for a fuel system. Pressure gauge is pegged because I didn't have it hooked the the regulator yet. It idles at 7psi.

    Ouch

    NOT junk mail

Just got my Massey Harris 44 cam back from Blackburn's Performance Shop. Fresh new grind will add .072"int and .076"ex lift (.550" & .560" at the valves) Haven't got the cam card yet, but should be 15-20deg more duration than my current grind.

What did you do with your GMT400 today...or yesterday....

Holset parts work in my cko turbo. I even have a legit Holset compressor wheel and housing on it. Best insurance against canister going through your engine is an intercooler.

What did you do with your GMT400 today...or yesterday....

I wouldn't. 400 cubes need to breathe. 12cm minimum, 14 is better. In my case where I occasionally tow heavy in the hills with small tires, 4l80e and 4.10 gears, a 16cm hx40 is in the plans.

Now you won't ever get to drive the 6.5 again. He's already addicted- even if he doesn't know it yet!

You don't need lower compression to move a lot of weight. However, you absolutely MUST keep the engine cool (@200 max), and it is much easier to do with lower compression. Look at TSP's chart (calculations) for cylinder pressure and you'll understand why lower compression allows an engine to...

TSP hit it on the head. I've heard as low as 8:1 on smoker tractors. It's also why I have a self imposed 15psi boost limit on my stock GEP motor.

I'm not sure I know what that is! Seriously Will- when was the last time your foot WASN'T deep in it?!

    '95 Engine build

If I were building a 6.5 to work hard every day (dually w/loaded gooseneck), it would be 18:1, not 20:1.

    '95 Engine build

Yes, and the 6.5 is a more over square motor governed at 1k less rpm.

    '95 Engine build

Absolutely! But let's consider how GM intended this engine to be used- as a fuel efficient alternative to the 350. They decided to set this motor up as a low rpm, lugging slug. They just forgot that it was an ultra high compression, over square design. So the injection pump tuning (peak fuel at...

    Fuel Sump

All plumbed up and ready to go! I hope! I set the initial pressure at 7psi. Hope to have time to fire it up tonight. The truck is away for the winter and as long as everything with the fuel system checks out in the shop, I will start the teardown of the front of the motor to install the gear drive.

And there it is! I know the mount is crude- not all of my ideas are pretty. Still waiting for barbed Y for return and fittings for boost reference port. Will hook up power for sending unit yet tonight.

I will make some legs for increased stability Mon. (probably wouldn't need them).

Finally got all my fittings and the 30lb spring for my AirDog. Time to make a mount.

That's what I thought was back there. Yes, I'm going to go higher. More room for the fuel lines as well.

Anyone know where I can drill into the firewall to mount my fuel pressure regulator? The two visible screws have plastic behind them (dash mount?). Thinking about going into the rib for the top two screws.

I'm all "ears" if you have a supplier. Around here, tractor pullers just make their own.
