Oh and I forgot to mention that I have also prepaid for a year of remote tuning from a reputable tuner. After the fuel system I will be building a performance 6L80 for this, then make some intercooler upgrades and then do some pulley changes…..so it will be important to get multiple tunes done...
The fancy interim door I installed the two nights before I had a door installed.
The end of day 3 I had the door opening self-supporting again (the two supports that are visible aren't functioning at this point - I just hadn't removed them yet.....in fact they were floating 1/4" off the...
Not exactly related to this project, but it was part of the reason for this, so I'll include it here......
Our garage door has been needing to be replaced for a few years as it was about 15% rotten wood at this point. It also didn't help that I accidentally backed into it earlier this summer...
Follow up to earlier posts. I have done some more investigating and have found that the truck has the wrong MAP sensor on it - it has the stock 1 Bar MAP sensor and not the correct 1 Bar sensor that the supercharger kit would have come with. After doing a datalog, it also looks like it has the...
I like that they're including the brand names of all of the parts they're including. When I was building mine, I found that only Rostra and AC Delco are to be trusted for the electronics. I think your decision on a triple disc converter is a good one and I've heard good things about Precision...
Did a couple things this evening.
Removed the front license plate bracket. We’re fortunate in Michigan to not need one of those.
Installed the Banks iDash I had in the Envoy so I could monitor things.
I checked the coolant level in the intercooler reservoir and it was empty. Hmm. I turned...
This is more of a “new vehicle” thread than a project thread, though I’m sure I will be doing some things to it in the future, so I thought I’d start a thread to document what I do to it.
Getting this truck was not really in the plan, though it has been a bit of a dream vehicle for me for...
Well…..I thought I was done fixing rust on this project, but apparently I was wrong. I started looking at the hood closer and found some very small rust blisters starting on the front of the hood from the inside out that needed to be addressed. I cut the bad metal out from both the skin and the...
Sunday I spent some time with the stud welder and pulling tools to work a large dent out of the driver’s door. I almost have as much invested in studs as I do in the door itself! 🤣
Your brackets look great, especially the lowers….what did you make those out of? It’s cool you’re making all these cooling stack parts fit in your build.
I got back to body stuff this past weekend. I need to paint the inside of the cab soon before I start putting HVAC and wiring in it, so time to pick out paint. When I first conceived this project, I was thinking I’d just do another roller paint job like what I did with my F350 - it was easy...
I've been using Schaeffer's All Trans Supreme in my performance transmissions since I built the Envoy, so I'll probably use that in this one as well. I'm unsure on coolers at the moment, I need to see what my space looks like with the 73 GMC grill because it's a deeper grill than 75+ grills...
Well look at that. Nope, I didn’t use any rolocs on it. I thought it might have happened when I started to drop the pump, but caught it…..though it did hit the case some (and cut a nice chunk of skin off my middle finger). The damage from that I saw was up by the pan rail, but thought maybe I...
