17 and 18 are optical sensor codes. They can be set off by a ground issue, as mentioned; usually happens when the little ground wire is removed from the IP. It's normally on the PMD harness, but some people remove it when they remote the PMD. Not a good idea, it increases the timing length...

They did. It's called a Duramax :hihi: Seriously, we've all had this issue since 1994. Somebody even tried to design a new PMD. The only cure has been Bills PMD Isolator, and now there are derivatives. This issue has kept Steaksauce and Laurence J Kaplan alive for a decade.

Might just be PMD ... Don't assume IP first. Water ca. Restart a PMD too. in either case, your days are numbered. Order yourself a PMD remote kit from Leroy

Just make sure of your IP model first. It's on a tag bolted to the pump; you will alcohol need the number off tour existing PROM chip. Bill will help you get what you need.

You most likely need a new PMD. Your accelerator pedal could be a problem, as could the optic bump - who did that, by the way? It is usually used to compensate for a stretched timing chain, and is a controversial modification. Anyway. Runaways caused by PMD failure are fairly common.
