    Comparing chassis dynos

I have a short marked off strip for acceleration to test changes (I am WAY rural). I also have my choice of small, steep mountains to climb to get out of the valley that I live in. Load up the gooseneck with a known load and see how she does.

What did you do with your GMT400 today...or yesterday....

Finally put her away for the winter. Got the ZR2 back on the road after 18-19 months.

    Total Seal Gapless rings?

Does the 40 cetane rating have anything to do with it? Unlike 51 minimum in Germany.

What did you do with your GMT400 today...or yesterday....

I like yours better. Wouldn't be afraid to use it for what Ford intended! (Maybe a little)

PLEASE don't put gas in it! LOL!

    Sled Pull Destruction

I've seen that truck pull in videos, and it is impressive. However, that guy has to be an idiot for not having a guillotine on it. Every diesel pulling tractor in every class except farm stock is mandated to have one at all of the pulls that I have gone to. That was a 6 figure oops.

    Turbo rebuild, replace, upgrade

Not just driving style and intended use- transmission, tire size and gearing are very important. Chris has given info on turbos that are very good all-around options.

Are all the P400 motors gone?

    Anybody have 25-30k laying around??

Are all the P400 motors gone?

I think having to provide a warranty would stop them cold. As far as I know, the Army just buys another engine and throws a broken one away (or has their mechanic fix it).

Are all the P400 motors gone?

National Guard units will be needing 6.5s for a long time. Eventually some takeout motors will probably become available through places like Ted's.

    My "Twisted" P400 build

Awesome build, Chris. Hopefully that NV4500 holds up to everything.

    Decisions on engine options

Take the GMx turbos and sell them to someone with a 2.0 four banger who can use them. IMO, a 12cm housing hx35 is too tight, and a 14 only slightly better (gearing and transmission are big factors here). I have 4.10s with an automatic, and when I can afford the right hx40 it will go on my truck.

    Decisions on engine options

....also had to swap passenger side valve cover. Motor was spotless inside.

    Decisions on engine options

My 6.5 came from Ted's (late '15,early'16). It is an '07 military motor (n/a). All I did to it was swap the oil pan and install my pump, injectors, intake and exhaust. 30k hard miles so far. What they're selling since then, I have no idea.

What did you do with your GMT400 today...or yesterday....

Just my personal experiences here. Not trying to prove anything or make any claims as to what works best. I run a 130gpm pump with a 190 GM thermostat. I start my truck 5-6 minutes before I leave for work (even in summer). I climb a mountain 1 mile from home and usually am moving pretty good up...

What did you do with your GMT400 today...or yesterday....

Cylinder walls are 1.5mm thicker- that's a plus!

Big T, what are you gonna do when everything on the Burb is new/fixed?!

    Last pic didn't go through.

What did you do with your GMT400 today...or yesterday....

Not a GMT400 or a 6.5, but life isn't fun all the time.... New rocker panel is on the way, new cat-back exhaust (first attempt at building one), new brakes lines, and a lot of Fluid Film on the frame.

What did you do with your GMT400 today...or yesterday....

Those fender flares seem to be like the ZR2 units. I almost guarantee that the studs on the flare will snap off (not that it matters since you're replacing them). I have to get a new set for my little truck once I finish excising the cancer.
