How do you all get 6.2s to 300K miles

Dude, it's not if but when it will snap your block. that "bro" doesn't know much about these diesels and it shows! the best way to get at that bracket is to lift the front end so you have some wiggle room, pull the front tire off so you can get in there. that bracket has got to be installed
Gonna try after work

Got nothing to lift to front end or remove the tire, wish me luck

He's more of a gasser than anything, he only knows about the 6.2 since people around him had them

Well, im sure you'll all be pleased to hear that i finally got the bracket properly bolted on

The damn but was already on the starter (starter is only one year old), it took me an hour to do it, but, its on there

(If anyone could suggest front dual shocks that'd also go a long way aswell.)

Calling it a night, arrived at FE Warren AFB (300 miles from my base) currently half full

Odometer reading: 28894

What do yall think of the fuel economy so far? Assuming the fuel tank capacity is 31 gallons.

what was the outdoor temp on that startup? looks like everything is clearing up nicely. my only suggestion is to make sure the fast idle solenoid is connected and working. it should be tied into the cold advance solenoid so it increases the idle on cold starts. I have mine setup like that and also wired in a diode to isolate the cold advance solenoid so that I can run the fast idle when I have the AC turned on too!

the fast idle solenoid is the one that has a plunger that pushes on the throttle slightly, should only increase the RPM about 200 or so when on.

on your PS fluid, do you have a cooler installed? it could be getting how during your drive and puking. could also be a leak too, stop by a car wash and clean that area off (dollar store oven cleaner works wonders then wash off with water) drive a little ways and look for where it's leaking.

Fast idle does work, i just wanted to see how it starts without assistance, it did indeed clear up nicely, which I was glad about. It was 55-60°F in the morning

I genuinely think its a leak, never done anything to those lines. So it wouldnt surprise me at all, also, no cooler is installed for it

2wd with hiway tires and most important on old original diesel fuel. Modern fuel is a massive drop in mpg and lubrication. Trucks that get 25 on real diesel tend to get 20 on the new stuff.
I currently have the following:

33 inch tires
3.73 gears
4L60E (overdrive)
Stanadyne lubricant per fill up
4x4 abilities

Don't see how mileage could be suffering under those conditions, if anything, my gear ratio and tire size plus the overdrive should help it (not including the turbo)

It’s all in the drag.
I had a buddy that lived here with a 1992 k2500 6.5. He replaced his bad turbo with a gm6. He has db2 ip. My 95 has gm6 and db2.
He runs 38X9 tires that measure at 36.75, my 37x12.50 tires are really 36.5 new and were worn down to 36.25” tall.
So we swapped tires for a couple weeks to see how the other ones feel and perform.
He lost 4 mpg. Mine, it made no difference.

But I noticed towing heavy and I don’t get any worse. I think the engine is nearly maxed on load efficiency.
12.5mpg if I drive moderately, 10.5 mpg with my foot on the floor (literally) from every stoplight until 5 over limit. Doing 70 mph hiway.

My gears are way worse than yours, 5.13 after everything.
My geared hubs (portals) eat a lot of mpg.
I never tried just doing 55mph. But many guys with hmmwv & hummer say slowing down from 65 to 55 adds 2-2.5 mpg. Your truck is slightly more aerodynamic than mine because of the sloped windshield, but your grille height is much bigger than mine plus your axles catch air mine doesn’t.
So I would think that wind resistance impacts you as bad as it does me.
