Well I have inherited my first truck back, a 2000 Silverado K1500 Z-71 Ext cab long bed.

I bought this truck new in 2000 with 7 miles on it because I was a dumb 18yo with a decent job. Lost said job a year later and my dad saved my butt and refinanced it in his name. He and my mom became the primary drivers of it and for the next 20-something years it was my dads work truck (painting/construction contractor). It hasn't been driven much the last 2 years but has had a pretty rough life in regards to deferred maintenance. I've done a handful of repairs over the years (water pump, wheel bearing, radiator, heater core, fuel pump). Currently has over 270k miles. Trans was replaced around 140k.
Currently it's being used as storage for my dad's work equipment. It's had its fair share of bumps and bruises over the years but still a pretty solid California truck.

My plan is to clean it out, clean it up and fix the broke. Then do a full maintenance job on it, new brakes, rotors, fluids, steering joints, ujoints, etc.
Then once it's a solid runner, I plan to do a nice level kit and put some new shoes on it. I'll get some pics up soon and a list of my tasks to accomplish first.

Overall hope to get a solid reliable runner for you-know truck stuff and give it a bit of a face lift... wish me luck.

Getting this thing cleaned out and started thinking. Anyone know of any drawer type setup that could be used under the rear seat of an extended cab? There’s always the custom made setup I could do but time is not on my side as of late.
I’m trying to think of a way to utilize the space under the back seat without needing to lift the seat to access it. I don’t want to have to remove a car seat every time to get to it. So I figured a drawer that could slide out the side would be great. Let me know if you’ve seen anything or have any other ideas. Thx.

Not seen anything already made up, but depending on the depth or height, you might be able to take a piece of plywood cut to fit with a set of drawer sliders mounted to the inside of the seat risers. Then take a router or saw to cut out large holes to set some of those clear storage tubs like you find in walmart.

This kind of idea gives me thought of a wooden box of sorts with sliders to store or hide rifles under the seat!

Something like this but only sends to be available for 2015 and newer. I know newer trucks have less of a driveline hump in the floor compared to the 2000. Might be able to adapt. I’ll have to get some measurements.

Also here's my list of stuff to tackle in the next month. After this, if all goes well then I'll be looking for new shoes (likely 285/75r16)..

So fox shocks screwed me again. A number of years ago I bought a set of shocks for an off-road jeep one of the shocks had the valve installed upside down and the shims in the wrong place. So a buddy of mine that worked for fox at the time helped me rebuild them and do it right. Fast forward to today, I decided to splurge for fox shocks on this truck and one of them either has a bad seal or was never charged with nitrogen from the factory. 🙄

So I said screw it and put it all back in the box, planning to just return them and go with bilsteins which is what I was originally planning to do. For now I’ll leave the mostly worn out Monroe reflects trucks on there, at least they have some nitrogen left in them.

Almost done with the rear brakes then it’s time to do fluids.
