guys, quick question:

I was in a harbor freight yesterday and of course could not find a fuel pressure gauge. I want to have one in the truck. Any ideas where else i could get one ?
It needs to be sensitive to~10psi.
AFAIK it needs to be 7psi at idle and 4-6psi during driving and never below.

Thanks in advance for pointing me in the right direction !!!

Same guage I use for testing. It was around 10 bux at Harbor Freight. Perhaps you just missed it in the store VW? It's with all the other 'cased' auto tools, pullers and kits.

been letting the local hft store phone ring for 7 minutes.
what a shitty store. they had no clue what i was looking for either.....

oh - easter sunday ....

FWIW my local HFT store ALWAYS has these and a bunch of them on the shelf.

Good price for things.

BTW VW, I keep that in my truck at all times, and have a 10' rubber line so I can watch that guage while driving. Doesn't mean its always connected, but always in my truck.

You can route the hose around the back of the engine, and up through/around hood hinge, out of Wiper grills area and right into the drivers side door window. Leave that window rolled down 1/2 inch and you can open your door and leave it set up that way for a week or longer if you desire. (Until your confident your problem is fixed anyhow). While driving you can set the unit in your guage cluster blocking your Speedo for example.

When done, put it away, behind your seat or wherever you want to make permanent room for it. As I said, it comes in a red case about 10"x8" or so (from memory) easy to store, and so you know what your looking for at Harbor Freight. It's right by all the compression testers and other stuff.

that was my exact plan !
i was right in that aisle staring at all that stuff.
seems like they are closed today ....

I would question the accuracy of 10$ gauges and meters. Snap ON makes nice ones....Or just install one permanetly. Autometer is always my choice of gauge.
Most of the stuff HArbor Frieght sells is bottom line crap. I bought a set of 3 lady foots there and broke all three trying to pull a seal. I bought a Snap On one the next day for 55$. It didn't break. If you want accuracy a test gauge should cost more than 10$. JMO

Easter, they are closed, you are in the Bible belt.

I bought the $20 DVM at Harbor Freight. I don't use it everyday but it seems to work fine. You have to know what you buy and how often you want to use it. I don't trust anything with moving engine at HF like Cordless tools, etc.

As I said above, not for permanent mounting.

I've still got some of these left. I bought them at a surplus business. I have 9 of the first picture. They are a vac/psi combo from 30in Hg vac to 15 psi. It could be used as a turbo boost gauge also. It is made in the USA by ashcroft and has a stainless steel body, brass socket and polycarbonate lens. 1/4 mpt connector. It is 63mm diameter. They are brand new "NOS" parts.
I don't know what Harbor freight gets, but I'll take $20.00+ shiping each while they last.

This is also made by Ashcroft. 0-15 psi. 1/4"mpt. Only have two of these left $15.

First come first served on these as I do not know if I can get more.

my semi permanaent one I got at auto zone, $9 intended to be screwed into carburator/throttle body supply line, but works just fine for me, plumbed into my ip supply line with copper gauge line, reads well enough to let me know if im having delivery issues

I put in an Auto Meter mechanical w/ 15 psi scale mounted in the cab because I wanted to monitor feed pressure to the inj pump like Turbine Doc.

Figured the first place you'd see any fuel delivery deficit is when the engine's pulling hard going down the road.

This setup uses Auto Meter's isolator/diaphram so you don't have a fuel line running into the cab. Nice accurate/safe setup, but a fair bit of work to plumb & not inexpensive.

FYI, I can also get the Stewart Warner electric gauge (no fuel in cab) 0-15 psi for $95

In retrospect, installing an electric gauge would have been notably easier & a quality electric gauge shouldn't be any less accurate.

thanks gentlemen for all the help, i will check out if i can get some tomorrow.
or call pmdcable ;-) however i would have to find a place down the road to ship it first.

I wonder if one of those UPS type stores will accept a one time shipment for you? You could get online and find one close to your next stop. I will be happy to help anyway I can.

I'll take one of those white faced guages if still available.
