Wrong Power Steering Cooler?

What is the correct power-steering cooler for the 6.5TD?

According to the manual, I have the "frame-mounted" cooler that's installed inside the Driver's side frame just behind the bumper. (have to remove the bumper to service it! another dumb idea from GM engineers!)

The manual shows a fin-type cooler for the hydro-boost system.

I found a photo and circled what I think should be there:

Do I have the wrong one?

Thanks.
Mike

That's the right one. Some gassers[yuk] have the cooling tube in the frame.

My Blazer has the finned PS cooler like that to. No external tranny cooler though.

Ok, the general opinion is that the cooler should be the fin type.

Now that I consider this, a few other things are starting to add up to make me believe it had repairs to the front end:
-grill cracked and difficult to align
-driver side inner wheel fender bent
-brass coupler on power steering cooler lines
and now... a gasser (insert rude noise here) p/s cooler

OK, guess I'm off to the bone-yard to get the proper p/s cooler.

Thanks to all for your help.
Cheers.

Good catch on your part.

-grill cracked and difficult to align...

Well the grille issue is par for the course and normal for a un-wrecked older truck. The other stuff is suspicious.

The cooler should have been used on gassers. It prevents hot fluid from causing a steering wheel shudder/vibration/noise as you turn the wheel at a specific speed. This is why I say a better cooler may help you down the road.
