Write-up On PT Wiring Solutions Heavy Duty Battery Cables

inspecting my wiring and connections. i'm an inspector. i like to inspect.

i inspected it. most had been changed to 1/0 except the starter. so i changed that and did the one to the far left junction. only had 6/0 and not 4/0.

deejaaa I think you mean it had 6 gauge before the change.

I've up-sized cables and improved connectors on 3 6.5's now, it's an amazing improvement over the foolish undersized stock cables and badly constructed side connectors. Cold weather rotational speed is greatly improved.

Thanks!
I have several more videos still to get added to the article. I'll report back here when I get em up.
(Hopefully in the next couple weeks)

Yeah, with those batteries and the new cables, she jumps to life, right now.

I looked through it quick - unless I missed it, they stay with the stock battery connectors? Really surprised they don't go to studs and washers and nuts, MUCH better connections.

Not stock. Stock style though. They are stainless with larger heads. 1/2" I believe.
I thought about leaving my studs and nuts, but I'm liking these just fine.battery-terminals-cropped.png

Ok, those look good. At a minimum I like getting rid of the insulation so you can see the connections clearly.

here's
deejaaa I think you mean it had 6 gauge before the change.........
here's what i had and changed it to:
on passenger side, smaller positive wire(larger positive wire goes to starter), runs to junction block on firewall; removed the one on the left(orange/pinkish), changed to the one on the right(black, which is 6 gauge):

clearly it wasn't 6 gauge to start with. more like 16 gauge.

I was only replying to this post, I was clarifying that you were talking about 6 gauge, not 6/0 gauge.

Can never hurt to upsize. That one to the firewall I didn't think needed anything close to 6 gauge, it's the cables carrying battery starting and grounding power that are the main problem, followed by the little ground straps all over the place.
