WoooHOOOooo first gallon of homemade Laundry Soap. I had four gallons of glycerine from my last batch, I saw a recipe for bar soap but who want to wait four or five days for the stuff to harden up so I made laundry soap using lye, Borax and Fels-Naptha. did two load, coloreds and whites and everything is nice and clean. Mrs D is wondering why there is no smell to it, the perfumy smell that commercial soap has. I'll have to get some smelly stuff from the hobby soap makers to make her happy. A gallon of Tide is about twenty bucks, my stuff is next to free.

I'm still using a washboard down by the crick. 
It was a bit of a guess but for references I went to http://www.permaculture.com/node/535 and http://tipnut.com/10-homemade-laundry-soap-detergent-recipes/
for my soap I use a cup of the homemade soap recipe and added to it 1/4 cup borax and a teaspoon of fels naptha soap. I put 1 cup of white vinegar in the fabric softener dispenser. I'm guessing you'll have to tweak it out for cold/warm/hot washing and water hardness
