looking for some help in am a diesel mechanic 50 hours a week on heavy equipment but this truck has me stumped just bought a 98 chevy silverado 3500 not running was told it was a security problem last owner replaced ignition but truck never ran again I have a maxumus 2.0 scan tool but when I hook it up I get an error message that it can't communicate with ecm truck will start for literally 1 sec and shut off I have tested power ato fuel shut down silinode and pulled to confirm function tried 3 different PDMs I am not getting power to fuel pump relay but have it jumped and have confirmed fuel at injection pump need help

Sounds like the theft deterrent (security) system in the ECM is shutting you down.

any ideas why I have no communication with ecm I have been trying to relearn the key. today I'm going to replace security module under Radio and see if it will require learn the key

It's rare, but an ecm can go belly up. I'm not that well versed with these computerized 6.5s. My 93 is mechanical..

I do know that bad grounds can wreak havoc.

that's exactly what happened ecm died and was causing the issue replaced it with a used and she fired right up

now that I have that solved I'm looking for suggestions on some performance upgrade options truck is a 98 has a built transmission 6 inch lift turning a ten lug convert semi wheels any ideas???
