Will these rims fit my truck?

I posted here prviously a link to a post on another web forum where a guy had two PYO rims cracked by a tire installer who over torqued them. No forged rim would do that. That would never happen on my forged Alcoas. Not to metion the plastic center caps held on by plastic lug nuts.

:???::???: Idiot tire monkey with a large impact wrench breaks 2 wheels. There isn't a wheel made that is indestructible given the right abuse.
Maybe you need to start your own "i Hate PYO wheels" thread instead if hijacking this one. I may start a "I Hate Alcoa Wheels " thread.

I have Weld Evo rims for my Z28, and I cannot believe I bought them. They look great, but cost too much, and the surface started coming off in about a year, I guess youre supposed to clean and polish expensive rims.

I saw a pair of messed up PYOs at an auction, tire monkey put it in the machine and gave it all the power the machine had to the holding jaws (the ones that extend inside the rim to hold it, so it can be rotated off the bead...clear as mud, we do our own tire work, so I am not 100 percent on tire machine terminology), so they can be destroyed.

we have many a sets of ruined forged alcoas..22.5 and 24.5. They came off of trucks we bought at auction that have lived a very rough life. even the mighty alcoa forged can and will be destroyed. If it is man made, an idiot can destroy it! (they had huge cracks running from bolt holes outward. think idiot with a 1 inch splined drive impact gun, and living conditions loaded to the gills on rough terrain.)

the point is, any rim can be destroyed if enough idiot power is tossed to it.

I do like alocas, but on a 3/4 ton, they will forever be ruined for me due to the fact ford ran them. the dually ones with the round center holes are still useable IMO, but the triangle holes are ruined for me for the same reason. plus, when do you find them for sale? i havent ever seen any around here, PYOs are affordable, and plentiful, so I will happily buy them and use them, plus, plastic doesnt rust! for neglected farm trucks in this area, you wouldnt beleive how shitty steel center caps look all pitted and rusty.

alcoa is going to plastic caps on the class 8 wheels anyways. http://www.alcoa.com/alcoawheels/north_america/en/info_page/accessories_hd_hub_cover.asp

in conclusion, all aluminum rims are awesome, let us all be friends! :)

I was happy with my cheap stamped steel rims that came stock on my 92. But I figured for the money the pyos would make it look nicer. I like the way they look, even with the plastic center caps. I always liked the stock look. Even at car shows I liked the cars put back to original. The only aluminum rims I ever seen destroyed were in a wreck or when my dad has his truck worked on and they sent the truck home with the back wheel bolted on finger tight.

after seeing the neighbor loaded to 50K combination with his duramax and a big tandem dually gooseneck stacked with round bales, I believe the PYOs are plenty strong. his truck was red, so when I saw that load, I thought of 01duramax6spd.

I agree with michael, the stock look IMHO is kinda nice, especially with one body style newer rims, kind of a "refined" stock truck.

same here brooklyn. I cant swing any right now, so I will tell you my secret. :)

type in alcoa, nothing more, nothing less, into e-bay motors, on the "narrow option list" find wheels (might be rims, not sure), select that, and any alcoa rim will pop up. I have seen a few 10 hole ones for our trucks, luckily the bigger p-chassis motor homes had them put on by the motorhome mfg, so they are kicking around!

good luck!

Nice!!!......Thanks!

Thought Id drag my old thread out of the dirt. I never got around to doing anything with my PYO rims so the other day I stripped the clear off one. Im going to try and clean them up and probably find some tires. The tires on my truck are getting a little bald.

Last summer me and my dad fixed up the building out workshop is in. my grandpa built it back in 1960 and it was in rough shape. The door was 7'3" and the poles were rotted so we jacked it up to a 10'3" door and put in all new posts. I think the original door was 7'6" but it settled and rotted over the years. Because of thats the rims got tossed in the weeds and getting the building set up where the wind wouldnt blow it down was more important.
