Why GMTDScan is a must for 94-95 owners.

Plus a paper clip cant do anything with tranny diagnostics, slip, injector balance, seeing real-time performance.....a darn cool program-pardon my language. knowing trouble codes just beginning of helping solve problem with gmtdscan

Does it do all GM vehicles or just 94-5 diesels? Where do you get it?

The real cool thing about GMTDSCAN is using it real time while driving to watch all the sensors and compare to the gauges, dash and aftermarket, see if it is all the same. And unfortunately I have seen temps almost 210 on comp and never even got to 190 on the dash. Saw my RPMs are all wrong on the dash, because alternator pulley is wrong, and I see that my boost gauge reads 1 psi lower than the boost sensor. My tranny temp gauge reads 10* cooler than the one in the tranny.
And I monitor other parameters like fuel rate and all the flags that get set like cruise, TCC, brake applied and others in real time while driving.

Oh and you can use it to diagnose problems too, and to top it off install your own IPs the right way.

That will set a code, :nono:

It will set the EGR code when you unplug stuff, but all I did was get an F code stock chip and put it in my 1500 and all that is gone.

Then I ordered an F code Engh chip and it works even better.

Getting the ATT was the final vac pump delete for me, but I have no complaints about how the vac system worked with my GM4 and the Engh Chip, it had lots of boost, well sustained and not a bit of lag even with Cat and 3.5 exhaust. With ATT it wouldnt boost hardly at all until I pulled off Cat, but with 4" exhaust and straight through muffler it does great, other than now I get a little black smoke with the small amount of lag. I like having less components in the engine bay though, because of all the stuff I add.

Some of you guys are quick to be defensive over the software. I'm not knocking it, I'm just saying the OP's reason, his reason for starting the thread, was weak and didn't require buying software when a paperclip would suffice.

I thought bulletin boards like this are supposed to help people save money...

Your tone came across to me as confrontational. You might have simply said something like, "It's also possible to read codes with a paper clip."

The software does a lot more than just read codes; the followup posts simply pointed that out. As far as saving money, my AutoEnginuity has already paid for itself more than once.

It's written English; it's very easy for someone to receive your message differently than you intended.

unfortunately just 94-95:frown5:

cheesesteak, no offense intended but-there are few people that support the 6.5, much less the older ones. and yes, most of us are defensive for the guys making good products to keep us going. This is by far the most calm, positive forum I've been on. I welcome your comments and participation, just realize there are several different personalities here,:drama:, try to be positive for the sake of the rest of our (fragile) feelings. :icon16:

Bought the sw 2 years ago and it's been great help. IP "Learn" function is the best, there's a lot 6.5td owners here who don't have any idea what/how IP is set correctly. Here are few diesel shops who service US trucks, IP learn cost easily 80€ (1€=1,35$), DTC read 50€
So, with the factory manuals... tdscan tech
