So my lemon had to go back to the dealer again. Ughhh. So I fire up old faithful and the SES light goes off. I'm like oh "F". Now what. Well hooked up my GMTDScan and had the truck fixed in under 5 mins. I was cleaning up under the engine compt rerouting some sloppy gauge installs and I must have knocked one of the vac hoses off the tree on the valve cover. I plugged it back in, cleared the egr code and was good to go(even though I have no egr). MY question is though for you vac pump delete guys, doesn't having no vaccuum trip up the egr sensors ? Mine threw 2 codes with just a vac hose off.

After I did the vacuum pump delete, I got the ol' SES light every time I passed someone or pulled a long hill. I bought the stuff to do the boost fooler mod, but before I got around to doing that, I ordered a GL4 chip from Bill Heath. After I installed my chip, the light never came on again. Don't know if the chip is programmed to overlook no vacuum; I just know I've never had a light. Bill Heath, what a genius!

Dear friend,
you can also unplug the little solinoid on the driver side valve cover to avoid code.
just follow the vacuum line from the pump around till you find it.

Your frugal friend,

Yeah, you could find the issue with a paper clip. But there are tons of other things the software is good for. Really it is a VERY good idea to have the software if you own a 94-5, i am going to get it in a few months. Mainly to advance my i/p, but it can also tell you statistics on your engine. Very good program, but when you have the program its easier to just plug and play than look for a paperclip, bend it all up, sit there and go through the flashing thing, go on the internet to correspond a number with an issue, and when you have cylinder misfire codes 1-8, and they all blink 9 something times a piece, you are going to be taking codes down for a while, been there. Software is well worth the money, but yes a paperclip would work in this sitchiation....

And he could have found the codes with a paperclip... weak argument for buying software.

Which means you have never seen or used it. While your fondling your paperclip then have to go look up what the code means hoping you read the flashes right, my truck is already diagnosed and fixed.

The Heath chip is programed to stop all that nonsense.

The EGR codes as well as overboost and such are all taken care of with the chip.

This allows the use of the Turbo master without any hastle.

YEp. I won't get into that here but suffice to say NEVER BUY FROM USED CAR DEALER. I have given that advice many times and am paying the price for not taking it.

X2 Yea I made that mistake myself helping the girlfriend buy a car. Bought an 02' subaru (couldnt talk her into the diesel suburban ):h) for what was a good price to begin with. But less than a month later had to replace both front axles and timing belt, along with the waterpump and cat. Dealer refused to cover anything yet when we bought the car it was said to have a "multipoint inspection" with no problems. I guess the multipoint inspection included only an oil level check and washer fluid top off. :icon_bs:

Yeah, screw dealers. I will always buy private .... If you dont got the cash to pay for it right now, then you dont need it...

Plus a paper clip cant do anything with tranny diagnostics, slip, injector balance, seeing real-time performance.....a darn cool program-pardon my language. knowing trouble codes just beginning of helping solve problem with gmtdscan

Does everything a tech 1 can do except abs and alot easier to use.Tech 1-$1000+used plus connecting cables and cartridges. Gmtdscantech $200. New laptop computer $400. $600 total. You deside.
