White deposits on wires near front of alternator. Battery light flashed goes out

Are you talking the windings inside the alternator that you can see through the case or the alternator wiring harness when you're talking white deposits?
 
Coolant leaks most likely. Alternator looks good. Belt very old but looks OK. Not leaking coolant now clamps tight. Looks yellowy white like paint spray. Will send pictures.
 
could be a number of things:
bird poop, as suggested.
malgumum.
sumplugluminum.
also something not known known to the human language.
 
Stuff I put in coolant to stop leak coming from underside of upper rad hose I'm starting to see. Turned yellowy white when sprayed out hot.
 
I blew 2 upper hoses this summer, coolant everywhere, twice. After it had dried on there were white deposits everywhere.

My moneys on coolant leak.
 
i like white chocolate. Christmas was just here, Santa, elves and reindeer were passing out candy at 3 different malls....at the same time! how is that possible! anyway, chocolate is all around us now. you just can't get away from it. glad i'm not allergic.

Being allergic to reindeer could be an occupational hazard if you're an elf, @deejaaa !
 
Do reindeer taste like deer? If so, muley or white tail?

If your truck were in Vegas I would have to say the white stuff is the hooker's blow. But coolant would add up more.
